I’m joining Broadcom as Head of EU Government Affairs in Brussels when business and regulation are jointly shaping the future of how we use technology and global technology companies are at the forefront of those developments. Broadcom is one of those global technology companies powering the AI revolution, alongside Nvidia and others, with particular strength in custom AI chips, networking and the infrastructure behind large-scale AI data centers. In many ways, this new challenge brings together the different chapters of my career. For more than 30 years, I have worked at the intersection of business, technology, investment and regulation. Over the years, I have had the privilege to see complex business and public policy decisions from several sides of the table: as a corporate executive, an investor, a dealmaker and a European regulator at the EU Commission’s DG Competition. Each chapter gave me different but very complementary perspectives. - Industry taught me how global companies invest, partner, compete and grow. - My time at the European Commission deepened my understanding of markets structures, competition dynamics and, of course, the public interest. Today, these worlds are converging more than ever: AI, semiconductors, cloud, digital infrastructure and technological sovereignty are no longer only business topics. They are central to our competitiveness as well as economic and strategic future, in particular in Europe. At Broadcom, my role will be to help strengthening the dialogue between the company and European institutions, Member States and industry stakeholders. That means helping policymakers better understand Broadcom’s contribution to Europe’s digital and AI infrastructure ecosystem, while ensuring that Europe’s priorities, ambitions and concerns are clearly understood within the company. It is a role that feels both new and very familiar at the same time. New, because of the company, the challenges and the responsibility. Familiar, because it builds on my various experiences in connecting business, technology and regulation. I am grateful to the colleagues and friends at the European Commission and elsewhere who have contributed to my journey so far, and to the Broadcom team for their trust and warm welcome. See you soon in and around Brussels !

At Forum Europe's EU Sovereign Cloud Day, I had the pleasure of speaking to Ronald Bezuur, Founder and CEO of Uniserver As the debate around the barriers to a stronger European cloud market evolves, one issue continues to resurface: limited European-scale infrastructure and capacity. Ronald agrees that this is a core challenge, but points to the gap beginning to close, as the public sector and broader industries decrease reliance on hyperscalers and seek sovereign solutions. This means an uptick in revenue for European providers, helping them innovate and invest in core infrastructure. When paired with partnerships designed to strengthen the capabilities of providers, this is precisely how they scale to capture market share. Watch the full interview below #EUSovCloudDay

Over the past weeks, I’ve been spending time with our Sovereign Cloud Services Provider (CSP) partners and customers, discussing the rapid evolution of Europe’s cloud landscape. Across all these conversations, one thing is becoming abundantly clear: sovereignty’s center of gravity has shifted from where data physically sits to who has ultimate operational control and access. With the rapid rise of AI, navigating this shift is no longer just an IT preference—it is a critical move to ensure business continuity. In my latest blog post, I share key reflections from these discussions and insights from Forum Europe’s EU Sovereign Cloud Day, exploring: 🔍 Why AI is acting as a massive driver for sovereignty demand. 📉 Why scale remains the single biggest barrier to a stronger European sovereign cloud market. 🤝 Why the path forward lies in strategic, capability-boosting partnerships. I would love to hear your thoughts and real-life experiences on how your organizations are approaching these changes. Read the full piece here:

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of moderating a panel at Forum Europe European Sovereign Cloud Day on: The Sovereignty Rulebook - Harmonisation vs. Interpretation In the wake of the Cloud and AI Development Act proposal, the conversation signalled a shift in the European debate - from how sovereignty is defined to how it is achieved in practice. We covered: -> Europe’s aspirations for sovereign cloud vs. the current reality -> The factors that have impacted progress - from regulation to funding -> Whether harmonisation across 27 member states is truly achievable -> How European CSPs can realistically compete with hyperscalers -> The gap between policy ambition and what providers can practically deliver Many thanks to Andreea Gulacsi Ronald Bezuur, Ingo K. and Larik-Jan Verschuren-Parchomov for a substantive and meaningful discussion. Clips with their invaluable perspectives to follow shortly #EUSovCloudDay
