While at the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia, the BCSTA Board of Directors had the opportunity to meet with Dana Lajeunesse, Parliamentary Secretary for Accessibility, to explore ways we can collaborate to better support student success. Our discussion focused on funding support for inclusive classrooms and accessibility, as well as sharing key initiatives from our membership, including our budget submission, and our working group reports on Anti-Racism, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and Accessibility. We value the opportunity to engage with government decision-makers to ensure that K-12 public education remains a top priority for our province. 📚 #Bced #Bcpoli #Accessibility #Inclusion #StudentSuccess #PublicEducation

Today, the BCSTA Board of Directors and members of staff are at the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia for our annual Advocacy Day, a cornerstone event in our commitment to championing public education across the province. Throughout the next two days, our board is meeting with various members in government to discuss critical issues facing BC's public education system and to advance priorities identified by our members from every corner of the province. Our members serve as the democratically elected voice of their local communities, and Advocacy Day provides a valuable opportunity for BCSTA to bring those voices directly to government decision-makers. These conversations help ensure that the needs and priorities of BC's students, families, and education communities are heard and considered in provincial policy and funding decisions. We're grateful for the collaborative relationship we share with the provincial government and look forward to productive discussions ahead.
