Choosing how to measure your brand in AI answers? Start with what the data has to show you. We built the UK Automotive AI Visibility Index from 7,334 answers by ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overview and Microsoft Copilot. Five findings stood out, and a single visibility score would hide every one of them: 1. The leader changes with the engine in 6 of 11 categories. 2. Portfolio size doesn't buy voice. Three Hyundai Motor Group brands take a 13.3% share of AI voice; six Stellantis brands take 5.3%. 3. Three UK titles earn 17.3% of all citations. Every carmaker website combined earns 12.3%. 4. AI names 4.0 to 5.8 brands per answer on average, out of 65 in the index. 5. Tone varies by engine: 80.8% of brand mentions read positive on Google AI Mode, 64.8% on Microsoft Copilot. Seven pages, one per finding, below. The full index: https://lnkd.in/dufAqXGP

36 of the 65 car brands in our UK index don't make AI's top 10 in a single buying category. That's one of the clearest findings in our UK Automotive AI Visibility Index. We ran 2,190 unbranded UK buyer prompts through ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overview and Microsoft Copilot, across 11 categories from city cars to vans. AI's shortlist is short, and it isn't evenly shared: → Volkswagen Group has a brand in AI's top 10 in all 11 categories. → Toyota Motor Corporation makes it in 10, Hyundai Motor Group in 9, Renault Group in 8. → Geely has six brands in the index and appears in 4 categories. → Stellantis also has six, and appears in 2: 7-seaters and vans. For a multi-brand group, "are we visible in AI?" is the wrong question. The useful one is: in which categories does AI put us on the list, and on which engine? The chart shows ten groups. Same questions. Four AI engines. Three different winners. Ask about electric cars in the UK, and ChatGPT mentions Kia most. Google AI Mode: Hyundai. Google AI Overview and Microsoft Copilot: Tesla. It isn't a one-off. In 6 of the 11 UK car categories in our index, the leading brand depends on which engine your buyer asks. A single AI visibility score averages that away. The UK Automotive AI Visibility Index shows every category, engine by engine, for 65 brands: https://lnkd.in/dufAqXGP

Four car categories. Four different top 10s. Here's who AI mentions most when UK buyers ask about family SUVs, electric cars, 7-seaters and vans, across ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overview and Microsoft Copilot. Kia leads family SUVs and 7-seaters. Tesla leads electric cars. Ford leads vans. Below the leaders, the lists change a lot from one category to the next. Is your brand on the list AI gives your buyers, in every category you sell in? All 11 categories, engine by engine: https://lnkd.in/dufAqXGP

AI has already ranked the car industry. We ran 2,190 unbranded UK car-buyer prompts through ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overview and Microsoft Copilot. Across 7,334 answers, this is each carmaker group's share of AI voice: Volkswagen Group: 23.3% (7 brands) Hyundai Motor Group: 13.3% (3 brands) Toyota Motor Corporation: 9.5% (2 brands) BMW Group: 7.8% (3 brands) Renault Group: 6.9% (3 brands) Mercedes-Benz Group: 5.4% (1 brand) Stellantis: 5.3% (6 brands) A bigger portfolio doesn't guarantee a bigger voice. Hyundai Motor Group's three brands out-talk Stellantis's six and Geely's six. The UK Automotive AI Visibility Index ranks 65 brands across 11 buying categories, engine by engine, and shows which sources AI reads before it answers.
