This is what national actors have started to do after the launch of Tanzania’s National Ecological Organic Agriculture Strategy. Based on this strategy, local actors identified a series of investment opportunities which are grounded in national and local priorities, and pathways for regenerative and agroecological transitions. The result is reflected in the RAFT* 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵-𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺, which helps development funders and partners to identify relevant initiatives aligned with their objectives. 🌱 Support of farmer training and transition to agroecological farming practices 🌾Multiplication of seed banks focusing on local crop varieties and scaling of bioinput solutions as alternatives to chemicals 🛒 Market creation mechanisms (such as certification through Participatory Guarantee Systems) 🤝 Multi-stakeholder coordination at landscape and national levels For catalytic funders and impact-oriented investors, this is an opportunity to support scalable solutions that can strengthen farmer livelihoods, reduce dependency on harmful inputs, build climate resilience, and generate measurable environmental, social, and economic impact. * 𝘙𝘦𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘈𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘍𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘚𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘴 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 (𝘙𝘈𝘍𝘛) 𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦

🌍 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗮 𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝘆 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲? A geopolitical tension thousands of kilometers away is quietly revealing how interconnected and fragile our food systems are – including in Europe. But step by step, the effects travel. ➡️ Insurance, transport and gas itself become more expensive. ➡️ Fertilizer production depends on natural gas. ➡️ Fertilizer prices rise. ➡️ Farmers face higher costs or lower yields. ➡️ And eventually, food prices begin to shift. 🎥 In this video, Charlotte Pavageau, policy expert at Biovision Foundation, unpacks why: ⚡ Energy security and food security are deeply interconnected ⚡ Fertilizer dependency makes global agriculture vulnerable to shocks ⚡ And why these disruptions hit some regions much harder than others 💡 At the same time, this moment raises a bigger question for policymakers and practitioners: 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗹-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀? The answer may lie in approaches like #agroecology that strengthen local autonomy, reduce external inputs, and build resilience from the ground up.
