⏸️ Pausing based on frequency alone is killing your best ads on Meta. And most brands don't know it's happening, because the ad gets switched off before the data ever shows up. A frequency of two isn't fatigue. Depending on your product, price point and how considered the purchase is, it can take several impressions (research suggests 5-7 brand impressions) before someone even remembers the message - and more again before they buy. Cut the ad early and you're often switching it off while CPA and ROAS are still healthy, before the creative's had a chance to land. You lose the winner, and you starve the account of the data that would've told you it was one 🥺 A rising frequency is sometimes good news... it can just mean Meta has found a responsive pocket of audience and is leaning into it. So frequency should trigger diagnosis, not an automatic pause. And the diagnosis is a journey, not a single number. A low hook is a different problem to a strong hook that loses people halfway. Both are different again to an ad that's working while the lp/user experience are what's actually killing performance. Read one metric in isolation and you pause the ad when you should've fixed something else. Below are some examples of how our creative strategists actually diagnose ad performance👇

😣 A common pain point we come across speaking with D2C brands is an 'over-reliance' on Meta. There's an uncertainty about where to place their chips in order to reach new audiences next, and ways to most effectively diversify and scale media spend. Or there's an assumption that, through volume of users, TikTok must be the next logical place to expand (which has it's unique challenges; often a lack of existing creative diversity or robust processes in place to scale effectively). One of many tools we use to help identify potential for channel expansion is GWI (Global Web Index). Building on first-party data with a highly targeted audience of consumers, to understand a wealth of information about their behaviours and activities: - Which social networks they tend to use on a frequent basis - Their attitudes, values and how they describe their character - Preferred qualities, attributes and actions from brands - How they research products and their approach to purchase decision making - How and where they consume content Usually this research opens up a wealth of ideas and opportunities beyond channel selection. In particular, we're finding tools like this invaluable in understanding how to resonate better with audiences and gain cut-through with creative, forming hypotheses for new creative concepts and angles. This means we’re able to find more profitability or scale within existing channels, as well as having a better understanding of how to approach channel expansion Sometimes, finding new and creative ways to scale requires stepping outside of the platforms and revisiting your audience playbook altogether. What other approaches are you using to combat these sorts of challenges? I would love to hear them!

Most ad creative doesn’t fail because it’s bad. It fails because it’s guesswork. 👉 Our new performance creative checklist isn’t just theory - it’s built from industry best practice and refined through multiple research methods we use on real campaigns, every week. The result? A practical guide that helps brands: ✅ Develop clearer creative angles ✅ Run tests systematically, not randomly ✅ Link creative performance to actual business outcomes (not just CTR) We won’t pretend this single checklist will solve every creative challenge. It’s a starting point, and it works best when combined with real research, data, proper analysis and tight feedback loops between creative/brand teams and performance teams.
