✨ “After years of hard work and learning, we can see how the Right care, first time, where you live approach supports better decisions to break down barriers for young people to get the care they need,” – Victoria Thom, our Australia Country Director. Led by the Brain and Mind Centre of the University of Sydney, this ambitious program set out in 2021 to empower Australian communities to improve the youth mental health system. At the final symposium in Sydney last week, the team made plans for sustainability and celebrated the achievements of this ground-breaking program which is grounded in research and supported by systems modelling and simulation through co-design. These conversations play an important role in changing the landscape of youth mental health from individual communities to national systemic change. 💪 👉 Learn more about how this BHP Foundation partnership is delivering better mental health outcomes for the next generation of Australians – https://lnkd.in/gVXzr4Ze

21st century skills such as curiosity, problem solving, critical thinking and innovation go hand in hand with science, technology, engineering and mathematics. 💡 The future workforce will need to be equipped with these skills to help solve emerging challenges. But not all young people across Australia have access to the same STEM-based learning opportunities. BHP Foundation partners with CSIRO to support the STEM Together program which helps young people from underrepresented groups strengthen their capability, confidence and connection with STEM. ✨ If you know an adult in Australia who helps young people in Years 5-10 build their confidence in STEM, take a look at the Adult Shapers opportunity as part of this program. Apply by 5 December: https://lnkd.in/gheEh7yx

💥 Meet the changemakers: Supporting Indigenous Language Revitalization! Language is at the heart of cultural identity. More than 70 Indigenous languages are spoken by First Nations people, Métis and Inuit in Canada. However, several Indigenous languages in Canada are classified as endangered, and many more are at risk. The preservation and rejuvenation of Indigenous languages is complex and requires commitment from individuals to government institutions in a wide-ranging ecosystem. BHP Foundation partners with the University of Alberta, which has dedicated the SILR project to integrating effective language revitalization approaches and tools into community and educational policies and practices. ✨ Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gZR8CVc6
