“Do it all, but keep it together.” It's an expectation many women know well—even those at the top of their careers. In a special episode of BetterHelp's “Mind If We Talk?”, Las Vegas Aces Head Coach Becky Hammon joins Licensed BetterHelp Therapist and Certified Perinatal Mental Health Specialist Sonni Williams, LPC, to discuss ambition, leadership, and the pressure to have it all together. From navigating tough decisions to trusting herself when others questioned her choices, Becky reflects on the expectations she's faced as an athlete, coach, and working mom. As part of BetterHelp's Permission Project, Sonni guides Coach Hammon through our Rewrite Guide to challenge the unwritten rules women are taught to follow. Her rewrite? “Do what you can, and it's okay if it's not all together.” 🎧 Watch and listen to the full episode: https://lnkd.in/gUz3WV8G 🌱 Explore the Permission Project: https://lnkd.in/gxRWc27U #PermissionProject #MindIfWeTalk #BetterHelp

Jenny Streets was called “bossy” or “too much” long before anyone recognized it as leadership. After years of working with executive coaches, she’s learned that sometimes that was just her style. And other times, it was a gender norm at play. Some rules are never written down, but we follow them anyway. So we asked women we admire to name the one rule that snuck in without their permission and rewrite it into what they believe now. Jenny Streets, NA Group Lead, CPG, Financial Services & Health at Meta, rewrote this rule: ❌ Be yourself, but don’t be “too much.” ✅ Know when to adjust your volume, but never dim your light. 🔆 What’s one inherited rule you’re ready to rewrite? Katie Horwitch used to feel nauseous asking for help. Then she realized that letting people help you can be an act of generosity too. “People often love being useful, and letting them show up turns life into a group project instead of something we're all supposed to figure out alone.” Every career comes with rules no one ever agreed to. So we asked women we admire to share an unwritten rule that slipped into their lives without their permission, and rewrite it into what they believe now. Katie Horwitch, author, mindset coach, and founder of WANT: Women Against Negative Talk, rewrote this one: ❌ Ask for help, but don’t be a burden. ✅ Letting people help you creates connection. What’s one inherited rule you’re ready to rewrite? What if chasing your goals is one of the best things you can show your kids? Early in her career, Stefani Klaskow always felt “overwhelming mom guilt, as if excelling at work meant failing at home.” Then she realized the opposite was true. “Living a full, ambitious life wasn’t taking away from my children. It was modeling for them, especially my daughter, what an independent, multifaceted woman looks like.” Careers come with rules no one ever voted on or agreed to. We asked women we admire to share one unwritten rule they inherited and give it a rewrite. Stefani Klaskow, Managing Director, Health at Google, rewrote this one: ❌ Succeed at work, but never at the expense of your personal life. ✅ Pursue the work that fulfills you. Showing your kids how to build a meaningful life is a gift. What’s one “rule” you’re done following?
