Could siRNA manufacturing be done more economically and efficiently? Conventional oligonucleotide synthesis can become increasingly challenging as scale and demand grow. In our latest case study with Codexis, we explore how fragment synthesis combined with enzymatic ligation can offer customers a path toward more efficient large-scale manufacturing and multi-kilogram siRNA production without compromising quality. Download the case study to discover how we can support you to improve scalability, sustainability, process economics, and manufacturing flexibility of your oligonucleotide project: https://lnkd.in/dFTb4viU #Bachem #Codexis #Oligonucleotides # siRNA #EnzymaticLigation #Manufacturing

How can we make sustainability measurable and actionable in peptide manufacturing? A year ago, we set out to tackle a key challenge in peptide manufacturing: turning complex supply chain and production data into meaningful sustainability insights. Today, we're pleased to share that this vision is now taking shape. Together with Sridevi Maalika Ramanoudjame, PhD, MBA, and under the academic guidance of Prof. Walter Van Dyck at Vlerick Business School, we successfully developed a predictive Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) tool designed specifically for peptide manufacturing. This innovative approach transforms complex supplier and manufacturing data into actionable sustainability metrics, enabling more informed decisions across the production process. Bachem was pleased to support this initiative through the guidance of Steffen Eller, Group Leader R&D, and Riccardo Bernasconi, Director Business Development, by providing data, industry expertise, and real-world insights to help turn an ambitious concept into a practical solution. This achievement marks an important step in our broader sustainability journey, and we look forward to building on this work in the years ahead. Congratulations and thank you to Sridevi, Prof. Van Dyck, and everyone at Bachem who contributed to making this project a success. #Sustainability #LifeCycleAssessment #PeptideManufacturing #Innovation #Bachem

Today, we announced the signing of an agreement to supply large volumes of peptides as part of a strategic collaboration. Therefore, Bachem will invest more than CHF 500 million in the greenfield project in Sisslerfeld (Eiken/AG, Switzerland). The strategic collaboration includes pre-payments and long-term commitments. Start of commercial production at the new site in Sisslerfeld is expected in 2030. With the new site in Sisslerfeld, we are expanding our global manufacturing network for high-quality peptides and oligonucleotides, key components in modern therapies. At the same time, we are reinforcing our long-standing commitment to the life sciences hub in Switzerland – the region where Bachem’s journey began more than 50 years ago. This milestone reflects the trust our customers place in Bachem and the dedication and expertise that our #TeamBachem brings to work every day. For large-scale manufacturing of longer peptides, should we pursue linear SPPS or conjugation of SPPS-based fragments? This is a frequently asked question in peptide manufacturing. Yet peptide length alone should not determine the synthesis strategy. In our recent case study, we evaluated linear and fragment SPPS for a commercially relevant GLP-1 receptor agonist and found that fragment synthesis is not automatically more efficient or cost-effective for longer peptides. Instead, the optimal approach depends on molecule-specific factors, process performance, and overall efficiency. Download the case study via the link in the comments and learn how we determine the right manufacturing strategy for your peptide using a data-driven approach. #Bachem #Peptides #SPPS #Fragments #Conjugation #PeptideAPI #GLP-1
