At the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Fall Alumni Convening, our founder Eduardo Ayala Maura shared one of the key decisions behind our firm’s growth: narrowing its focus to business law. By moving away from a broad, multi-practice model, we sharpened our firm’s market positioning, clarified its message, and made it easier for referral partners to understand exactly what we do as a firm. The results speak for themselves: the firm grew 57% from 2023 to 2024 and is targeting approximately 67% growth in 2026. As a business law firm, we don’t just advise businesses on their legal challenges, but we also understand what it takes to build, position, and grow one because we’re doing it ourselves. #GoldmanSachs #10KSB #BusinessGrowth

A business loan advertised at 3% interest may carry a very different financial risk when you default. Many business owners focus on the initial interest rate without examining the default provisions, late-payment penalties, and balloon payment terms buried in the loan documents. When refinancing falls through or a balloon payment is delayed, the default interest rate can dramatically increase the cost of borrowing, and put additional pressure on the business. Before signing a commercial loan, have the documents reviewed carefully, because the advertised rate tells only part of the story. At Ayala Law, our attorneys advise businesses on complex commercial disputes, including disputes involving business loans and lending agreements.

September brought several significant developments for Ayala Law, including an important appellate victory and the successful enforcement of a $335,000 judgment. Here are a few of the matters our attorneys worked on throughout the month. 𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 $𝟯𝟯𝟱,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗝𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗘𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 Attorney Eduardo Ayala Maura successfully opposed an emergency effort to stop enforcement of a $335,000 judgment and equitable lien following trial. The Court denied the request and confirmed that the property should proceed to sale for no less than $335,000, preserving our client’s ability to enforce the judgment against the property. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗢𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗿’𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗩𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 Attorney M. Julia Solvian, Esq. is representing a business owner in a lawsuit alleging that a substantial financial contribution toward a jointly owned real estate venture was followed by an attempt to deny his ownership interest, exclude him from the business, and withhold financial information and benefits. The lawsuit asserts claims including breach of contract, unjust enrichment, and breach of fiduciary duty. 𝗔 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗪𝗶𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮 𝗟𝗶𝗲𝗻 𝗟𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 Attorneys Luis Quesada Machado and Eduardo Ayala Maura secured an important appellate victory after the Fourth District Court of Appeal reversed a judgment enforcing a statutory lien and remanded the case for further proceedings. The Court found that the lienholder had failed to strictly comply with Florida’s statutory notice requirements, reinforcing the importance of examining whether the legal requirements behind a claimed lien have actually been satisfied. 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘀 Our firm is representing an animal rescue organization in a pending class action involving Revival Animal Health’s canine milk replacer products, while also investigating potential claims involving the company’s feline milk replacer products following a new voluntary recall. The investigation reflects our firm’s work on complex product liability matters where the potential impact may extend beyond an individual claimant to a broader group of affected organizations and consumers. From business ownership disputes and appellate litigation to product liability investigations and post-trial enforcement, September clearly reflected the depth and range of matters our attorneys handle on behalf of businesses, investors, organizations, and individuals. #business #realestate #legal

Matthew Hernandez first joined Ayala as a law clerk, stepped away to take the bar, passed it, and returned as an attorney, not because we simply had an opening, but because he earned his place here. His curiosity, initiative, work ethic, and genuine interest in the law stood out from the beginning. During his clerkship, we invested in him as a future lawyer, giving him meaningful work, responsibility, and the training necessary to make the transition from law student to practicing attorney. Matthew is a real example of something we believe strongly in: developing talent, not simply hiring it. Through initiatives like the Future Counsel, our law student reception (happening Oct. 22nd, RSVP in our bio), we are committed to creating opportunities for the next generation of lawyers to build relationships, learn from practicing attorneys and judges, and see what a career in law can actually look like. Matthew’s journey from clerk to attorney is exactly the kind of outcome we want to make possible. Want to join our team? Email: [email protected]. #lawclerk #lawstudent #legal

Winning at trial is not always the end of a business litigation matter. After a three-day jury trial, the opposing party sought a new trial and argued that the jury’s decision should be set aside. Our attorneys Eduardo Ayala Maura, Orestes G., and Gabriel Sierra opposed the motion, arguing that the trial evidence did not justify giving the opposing party another opportunity to prove damages. On September 24, 2026, the Broward County Circuit Court denied the Motion for New Trial and Rehearing, leaving the trial result intact. Our latest case update explains what happened at trial, why the opposing party sought a new trial, and how our team defended the result through post-trial proceedings.
