Commercial vehicle safety is evolving rapidly. As the commercial vehicle safety landscape is undergoing its biggest transformation in decades, the industry has an opportunity to rethink how we protect drivers, operators, and passengers. Preventing incidents remains essential, but effective safety also requires protection when the unexpected happens. Last week at Autolivs Commercial Vehicle Tech Days in Vårgårda, we welcomed customers and partners to explore how a full-system approach can help address that challenge. Over two days, we demonstrated how research, virtual and physical testing, software, electronics, restraint technologies, and vehicle integration can work together to support the complete safety journey. The discussions reinforced an important point: the best safety outcomes do not come from individual components alone. They come from technologies and expertise working together as one coordinated system. The event also showcased the strength of collaboration across Autoliv. From research and development to testing, manufacturing, and customer engagement, our teams came together around a shared purpose: helping protect people in a wide range of commercial vehicle applications. Thank you to everyone who joined us, shared insights, and contributed to the discussions. Together, we are helping shape the next chapter of commercial vehicle safety. Understanding injury mechanisms is key to advancing automotive safety. Human Body Models (HBMs) provide deeper insights into occupant response and allow us to evaluate a broader range of body types and crash scenarios than ever before. The result? Better-informed safety decisions earlier in development and greater opportunities to improve protection for all road users. A big thank you to everyone who joined us at our Commercial Vehicle Tech Days in Vårgårda the other week. What made the event especially valuable were the open discussions with customers & partners about the safety challenges facing the commercial vehicle industry today and in the years ahead. Sharing perspectives and exploring solutions together is how we turn innovation into real-world impact. Exciting! I look forward to continue these conversations and working together to help make commercial vehicles safer today, tomorrow and beyond. Commercial vehicle safety requires a human centric approach based on real world data. Trucks, buses, construction equipment, agricultural machines, and material handling vehicles serve different purposes in our value chain. Their drivers, operators and passengers face different seating positions, work patterns, and risk scenarios. At Autoliv’s Commercial Vehicle Tech Days, we showed how research could connect real-world safety data, physical testing, virtual simulation, and injury risk assessment using human body models. These capabilities helpe us explore a wider range of occupants and situations earlier in the development process, when engineering decisions have the greatest impact. The goal is to give engineers stronger evidence, more relevant scenarios, and better tools for making informed safety decisions. This research perspective supports a larger shift. Crash avoidance remains essential, but people still need protection when prevention reaches its limits. By studying the complete safety journey, we can help develop systems that protect occupants before, during, and after an incident. That is how research creates practical value: it turns real-world insight into clearer decisions and more human-centered protection. I look forward to continuing this dialogue with researchers, manufacturers, and safety partners. https://lnkd.in/dFuAie3u #SafetyResearch #CommercialVehicleSafety #SavingMoreLives
