Our Co-founder and CPO Aaron Szymanski sat down with James Anderton on the Industry Insights & Trends podcast by engineering.com to talk about what it really takes to bring AI into construction design. Here's what most people get wrong: they assume AI should work in construction the same way it works everywhere else. It doesn't. The precision gap is massive. You can't tell a contractor "the conduit should probably be routed there" or "it mostly follows code." Each raceway needs to be modeled exactly. Little mistakes upfront mean potentially huge (and very costly) clean up in the field. That's why we built our solution with the end in mind - we start from the reality of how buildings are constructed and work backwards from there. And combine machine learning with algorithmic optimization, not one or the other. We’ve been building out our core functionality for years. Mount Hope Elementary in Michigan just opened last month, and it was a significant milestone. The first building designed with an electrical system routed using AI. Miles of conduit, modeled in hours instead of weeks. One month saved in getting pre-fab ready. The building is open, the lights work, and kids are in class. Aaron explores why automating 3D design is more challenging than it appears, how he thinks about building system design at its foundation, and the impact of enabling engineers to achieve design certainty before construction starts. It’s worth a listen if you're in the trades or curious about where building systems design is headed. 🎧 Full interview: https://hubs.li/Q03N5xzT0 #Augmenta #AI #VDC #BIM #Construction #Electrical #GenerativeAI #Innovation

🏬 The construction industry is at an inflection point. With massive labor shortages, exploding demand, and project complexity at an all-time high, contractors need proven solutions, not incremental improvements. The future of building design just shifted. 🤯 We're thrilled to announce that we’ve updated the Augmenta Construction Platform (ACP) - the industry's first AI-native electrical design automation platform - with new functionality that transforms how contractors solve complex routing and coordination problems. What's new: ⚡ Real-time schedule creation → Cut schedule creation and reconciliation from days to minutes, eliminate costly mismatches 🎯 Intuitive Guidance → Preferred routing control without sacrificing our clash-free automation 🔍 In-Revit solutions inspection → Color-coded reviews that streamline solution review and clunky QA/QC processes Electrical contractors are using ACP to cut BIM time by 50% and save weeks in prefab readiness. What used to take months now happens in days. Teams are efficiently tackling complex, high-value projects and building VDC capabilities that win business. This isn't just about working faster; it's about electrical contractors having the tools to deliver on-time and meet demand, all amidst historical workforce challenges. Read more about it here: https://hubs.li/Q03H_CTV0 Come see for yourself. We’re excited to share that Augmenta has been named one of the 2026 Next Big Things in Tech by Fast Company! The recognition celebrates technologies with the potential to fundamentally reshape industries. For us, that means changing how the physical world gets designed and built. Augmenta is using Spatial AI to automate building systems design with the complexity and precision real-world construction requires. The Augmenta Construction Platform (ACP) helps teams design better buildings, faster, while optimizing for efficiency and constructability. Fast Company highlights the 25% reduction in design time achieved on one of our earliest beta projects (2024), and it’s worth noting that recent deployments have demonstrated up to 10x faster electrical modeling (https://hubs.li/Q04zDrRQ0). Today, ACP is being used by leading electrical contractors on large scale mission-critical projects across the U.S., and we’re just getting started. Thank you to Fast Company for the recognition, and to our customers, partners and the entire Augmenta team for helping us build a new future for one of the world’s oldest industries.
