What are reticular materials, and how can they enable wider adoption of carbon capture? Join our VP of Technology Partnerships, Prof. T. Grant Glover, at his session at Carbon Capture Technology World Expo in Hamburg on October 20th at 1:40 PM to find out. Atoco designs reticular materials with atomic precision to enable cost-effective carbon capture, for both Direct Air Capture (DAC) and Post-Combustion Capture (PCC) at low CO₂ concentrations. Building on decades of research by our Founder and Chief Science Officer Nobel laureate Prof. Omar Yaghi, the inventor of reticular chemistry, we overcome the key technical challenges holding back wider adoption of carbon capture: eliminating the need to pre-dry the air stream before capturing CO₂, and substantially reducing energy consumption through material regeneration at temperatures as low as 40°C. Atoco Goes to Hamburg as Gold Sponsor! From October 20 to 22, the Atoco team will be at Carbon Capture Technology World Expo and Hydrogen Technology World Expo in Hamburg. On the carbon capture side, we'll be discussing how we leverage nano-engineered reticular materials to overcome the main barriers to wider carbon capture adoption. Built on Nobel Prize-winning science from our Founder and Chief Science Officer Nobel laureate Prof. Omar Yaghi, our carbon capture materials can regenerate using ultra-low-grade waste heat and maintain performance even in high-humidity environments. This will enable cost-effective carbon capture in the most challenging environments: directly from ambient air (DAC) and Post-Combustion Capture (PCC) at CO₂ concentrations below 10%. That same Nobel Prize-winning science also underpins our work in atmospheric water harvesting. Our off-grid atmospheric water harvesting technology turns ultra-low-grade waste heat from electrolyzers into ultra-clean water at scale, even in arid regions, and that water is clean enough to serve as feedstock for the electrolyzer itself. On-site natural gas generation gives data centers a fast path to power, without waiting years in grid interconnection queues. The challenge is the emissions that come with it. Atoco's post-combustion carbon capture technology, built on nano-engineered reticular materials, captures CO₂ directly from natural gas flue gas and regenerates using the ultra-low-grade waste heat data centers already produce. That means speed-to-power and low-carbon power, without the trade-off. Learn more in our white paper: https://hubs.la/Q04wVDFQ0

Data centers are turning to on-site natural gas to solve speed-to-power but every megawatt generated on site adds directly to Scope 1 emissions. Atoco's post-combustion carbon capture technology captures CO₂ efficiently straight from the flue gas, even at the low 3-5% concentrations typical of natural gas turbines. The materials regenerate using the ultra-low-grade waste heat data centers already produce, removing one of the biggest cost barriers that has kept PCC out of reach for this use case. The result is low-carbon on-site power generation that enables fast speed-to-power with Scope 1 emissions reduced to a minimum. Data center growth is increasingly bottlenecked by access to power. Grid expansion and interconnection queues can take years, and while renewables remain essential to long-term decarbonization, they can't always match the speed, scale, and reliability the industry needs. That gap is pushing more operators toward on-site natural gas generation: dispatchable power that can come online far faster than waiting on the grid. The catch is emissions. Power generated on site creates a direct, facility-level Scope 1 liability, forcing operators to choose between moving fast and holding the line on sustainability commitments. PCC targets CO₂ at the point of emission, capturing it directly from flue gas after combustion, rather than pulling it from ambient air the way Direct Air Capture (DAC) does. That makes it a natural match for on-site gas generation, in theory. In practice, existing PCC technologies face challenges: natural gas combustion produces flue gas with just 3-5% CO₂, and pulling carbon out of such a dilute stream requires large amounts of energy with incumbent technologies. Atoco's nano-engineered reticular materials solve that problem. Built on the work of our Founder and Chief Science Officer, Nobel laureate Prof. Omar Yaghi, who pioneered the field, these are extremely porous frameworks engineered with atomic precision and tunable pore structures that selectively adsorb CO₂ even at low concentrations, exactly the conditions found in natural gas flue gas. They regenerate at such low temperatures that the ultra-low-grade waste heat that data centers produce in abundance can be leveraged. This removes one of the biggest cost and energy drivers behind conventional PCC. Atoco's PCC technology enables data center operators to leverage on-site power generation while keeping emissions in check. Learn more in our white paper: https://hubs.la/Q04yq0250
