TWO2 multi-modality topical wound oxygen therapy is proven in chronic wounds to outperform Standard of Care alone six-fold while also providing far more durable wound healing. But how does it compare against other advanced modalities? A peer reviewed real-world study in DFUs showed that TWO2 confers significant benefits over other advanced wound treatments. The group receiving only TWO2 therapy, when compared to those receiving CTP, NPWT or Growth Factors, demonstrated significant reductions in both hospitalizations (6.9% vs 58.8%, p<0.0001) and amputations (13.8% vs. 35.3%, p = 0.016) over 12 months. These findings help to demonstrate the real-world, patient-centric value of TWO2 in more durably healing DFUs, as both an adjunctive therapy and more effective option vs. other advanced wound care treatment options.

AOTI celebrates the following major milestones for TWO₂ therapy in the UK: - Inclusion in NICE's updated guideline for Diabetic Foot Problems: Prevention and Management as an adjunct to standard of care for DFUs not responding to treatment - TWO₂ is also now active on NHS Supply Chain's Advanced Wound Care framework, enabling streamlined procurement for NHS Trusts, Integrated Care Boards, and community care organizations This dual recognition marks significant progress towards improving access to TWO₂ therapy across the UK, accelerating its availability to patients with difficult-to-heal wounds and supporting NHS goals to improve outcomes while reducing overall healthcare costs. Dr. Mike Griffiths, CEO & President of AOTI, commented: “By achieving both of these significant NHS and NICE milestones, patients in England can now access the sustained healing benefits of our unique TWO2 therapy, helping to reduce the burden on strained national healthcare resources while delivering substantial quality of life benefits for patients at home.”

80% of NHS lower-limb ulcer admissions in England are avoidable emergencies. Reduce them by 30% and that’s nearly 8,000 fewer emergency admissions every year. This is the prize hidden within Hospital Episode Statistics (HES), the NHS’s own admissions data that almost no Trust ever sees. It shows what impact can be made if we heal wounds earlier and more durably: fewer readmissions, fewer emergencies, fewer amputations, increased bed capacity, and millions of pounds saved. And the therapies to deliver exactly this already exist: evidence-based options such as Topical Wound Oxygen (TWO₂®) therapy, recommended in the latest NICE guidelines for non-healing diabetic foot ulcers and listed on the NHS Supply Chain. Data this clear and therapies this proven are a powerful combination, and the opportunity to make substantive change is there to be taken. Take a closer look at the national NHS picture and request figures from AOTI for your own Trust. Let’s turn HES data into action.

Just a 30% reduction in lower-limb ulcer admissions in England means 27 fewer admissions every single day.
