HUGE AMMA WIN: All three agencies covered by the Make PPE in America Act now have formal domestic sourcing rules for PPE. Thank you to the agency teams implementing the Act, and to the AMMA members who helped make the case. AMMA is the leading voice for domestic manufacturing of critical medical supplies and has pushed for these changes in partnership with industry leaders for years. Today, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security final rule takes effect. They join the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (effective May 12) and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) (effective October 1). Here’s what it means for our industry. USA First: U.S.-made PPE, including materials and components, is the default for all purchases. No Exceptions: No commercial-item, off-the-shelf, micro-purchase, or general public-interest exceptions. Every Purchase: Rules apply at any dollar value, with a two-year minimum contract term. Exceptions are Rare: Need senior-level approval and recurring emergency certification. No One-offs: At HHS, standalone purchase-card buys of covered PPE are no longer allowed. This is a big win for American manufacturers, workers, and national resilience. What's next: We are working to turn these rules into steady, multiyear orders from American factories, keeping exceptions narrow, and making these protections permanent at every agency. We shared a full, detailed analysis with AMMA members earlier today. Join AMMA in advocating for domestic manufacturing of critical medical supplies. #AmericanMakers #MakePPEinAmerica #MadeInAmerica HHS Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response Office of Management and Budget

ICYMI: One of the Section 301 actions AMMA weighed in on is now in force. The forced labor tariffs on 60 trading partners are in effect. Why it matters: American medical supply makers have been competing against products made under conditions no U.S. company would accept. Enforcement levels that playing field, and it's happening now. AMMA submitted comments in this investigation. When it was announced, AMMA President Thomas Allen, CMD said this action "proves that Washington was listening." The other Section 301 actions haven't been announced yet. AMMA will keep making the case that a secure domestic medical supply chain depends on getting those right too. Thank you to The White House and Office of the U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer. Link in first comment. #AmericanMakers #supplychain #forcedlabor

AMMA Video: Congratulations to BD, one of AMMA's board members, on 65 years of manufacturing in Canaan, Connecticut. The world's first fully sterile, single-use plastic syringe was invented there, and today more than 500 employees make over 2 billion syringes a year. That's what American medical manufacturing looks like, and we're proud to stand with you. Photos courtesy of BD and feature Adam Lotspike and Eric Axel. State leaders, including CT Commissioner Bryan Cafferelli, CT Attorney General William Tong, CT Rep. Stephen Harding, Esquire, and Chris DiPentima, attended. #AmericanMakers #MadeintheUSA

AMMA supports the administration's hard line on industrial overcapacity and forced labor, at last week’s G20 trade ministers' meeting in Milwaukee. Office of the U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer won support from all but a handful of G20 members on a “draft ministerial statement” about excess capacity. He also rallied Mexico and Argentina behind a U.S. call to remove goods made with forced labor from global supply chains. That's what leadership looks like. The USA setting the standard, not waiting for it. And it's working. In September, The Wall Street Journal reported that every G20 member, except China, backed a Treasury-led statement against export-driven overcapacity. As U.S. Department of the Treasury Secretary Bessent said at the time, “pushing out a never-ending stream of cheap exports is not sustainable.” Even Japan's finance minister, Satsuki Katayama, told the Journal that "everyone's feelings have crossed a threshold" on China. But words aren’t enough. The US has acted and our allies should too. For America's medical manufacturers, this is personal. Subsidized overcapacity from China has undercut domestic production of PPE and critical medical supplies for years. It left our hospitals and frontline workers dangerously dependent on a single foreign source. Part of AMMA's mission is to hold bad trade actors, like China, accountable. We stand with the administration as it uses every tool available, including Section 301, to level the playing field and rebuild a secure domestic supply chain. America's health security depends on it. #AmericanMakers #MadeInAmerica https://lnkd.in/dUibCjew
