Dr. Sawsan Kheir, a Druze Israeli scholar at University of Haifa, is speaking out about a critical and often overlooked consequence of academic boycotts: their disproportionate harm to minority communities. In an interview with the Algemeiner, Dr. Kheir explains how BDS efforts, while claiming to “protect” minorities, actually block minority scholars from publishing, attending conferences, and advancing their academic careers. Instead of promoting inclusion, she notes, these boycotts “silence our voices” and deepen existing barriers. Born and raised in a Druze village in northern Israel, Dr. Kheir found her academic home at University of Haifa — a campus where over 40% of students come from minority communities and where multiculturalism is lived every day. As a lecturer and researcher, she continues to amplify minority voices and strengthen shared society through her work. Her message is clear: Israel’s minority scholars are striving to contribute, to research, and to be heard, and academic boycotts undermine those very goals. #Druze #IsraeliSociety #SharedSociety #HigherEducation #UniversityOfHaifa #AFUH

Families from northern Israel who were displaced by the war are still navigating deep uncertainty — but at University of Haifa, our experts are helping them rebuild a sense of safety and connection. The Home Within the Heart program, developed by Dr. Yael Mayer and Dr. Yael Enav, supports families through guided therapeutic tools, storytelling, and strengthened parent–child bonds. It helps parents and children process the trauma of displacement and restore a deeper sense of emotional stability and “home” after a period of deep upheaval. This work is funded entirely through donor support. Your generosity enables us to sustain and expand these vital services for families affected by the conflict.
