Google Ads has more automation than ever, but not all of it is enabled because you chose it. Some settings can be switched on automatically, hidden away in account or campaign settings, and quietly start changing how your campaigns perform. If you've not checked them recently, it's worth doing a quick audit. Here are a few areas we always review: - Auto-applied recommendations – Google can automatically make changes to your account, including adding keywords, changing bids or creating assets. - Automatically created assets – Headlines and descriptions can be generated and served alongside your own ads. - Brand inclusions and exclusions – Particularly important for Performance Max and Search to control where brand terms are used. - Search Partners and Display Expansion – These can increase reach, but not always with the same level of performance. - Location settings – "Presence or interest" can result in ads showing outside your intended target area. The risk isn't that these settings are always bad. It's that they're often enabled without regular review. We've audited accounts where hidden automation has: - Increased spend with little improvement in performance. - Served ads in locations the client wasn't targeting. - Changed ad messaging without anyone realising. - Made it harder to understand what was actually driving results. Automation works best when it's monitored, not left unchecked. A five-minute settings review could save you a lot of wasted budget.

Too many businesses focus all their PPC attention on the ad itself and end up overlooking the landing page. But here’s the reality: A great ad gets the click. A great landing page gets the conversion. If your landing page doesn't match the promise of your ad, you're paying for traffic that’s unlikely to convert. The best PPC landing pages are built with one goal in mind: reducing friction. That means: ✅ Clear messaging that matches the ad ✅ A strong, obvious CTA ✅ Fast load speed ✅ Mobile-first design ✅ Trust signals ✅ Minimal distractions Every extra click, confusing section, or slow-loading element costs money. And with rising CPCs across Google and Meta, improving your landing page conversion rate is often the fastest way to improve ROI - without increasing ad spend. Small changes can make a huge difference: • Better headlines • Cleaner layouts • Simpler forms • More relevant copy • Stronger offers PPC success doesn't end when someone clicks your ad. That’s where the real work begins.

“Our competitor's ad shows up when we search this keyword… why isn’t ours there?” Because Google Ads is outcome-led, not visibility-led. It’s an auction governed by likelihood to convert. Your competitor showing doesn’t automatically mean: - They’re spending more - They’re outperforming you - Or that something is broken in your account What it usually means: Their ad was eligible for that user, at that moment. Yours wasn’t. Common reasons your ad didn’t enter the auction: - Smart bidding decided the user wasn’t high-value for you - Budget was being reserved for higher-intent traffic - Location or audience signals didn’t align - Your past behaviour tells Google you won’t click or convert Meanwhile, their account might: - Be optimising for volume over efficiency - Have looser targeting - Or simply be willing to pay more for that type of user Searching your own keywords repeatedly isn’t a reliable way to “check” ads. You’re analysing auctions you may have never meant to be in. If you want to verify delivery, use Ad Preview & Diagnosis.
