🔴 𝗔 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝘁 𝗮 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁 𝗛𝗜𝗩/𝗔𝗜𝗗𝗦 Former presidents, prime ministers and public health leaders, have signed a joint statement urging governments to renew their commitment to the HIV response. Their call: prioritise HIV, expand access to prevention, testing and treatment, and support people living with HIV to remain in care. This call also matters for #Europe, where HIV must remain a political and funding priority. 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲’𝘀 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗜𝗩 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀: 𝗔𝗜𝗗𝗦 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 Since 2011, HIV disbursements from European donor governments to low- and middle-income countries have fallen by 58%, according to UNAIDS. Through our 𝗔𝗜𝗗𝗦 𝗜𝘀 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗻, we’re calling on European governments to renew their commitments. New pledges must translate into predictable funding for prevention, testing, treatment and community-led services. Europe must help ensure that people everywhere can access the HIV services they need. Governments must act urgently to strengthen international support, alongside sustained domestic investment in the countries most affected. We must prevent new HIV transmissions, close treatment gaps, and improve retention in care. Solidarity is essential if we are to ensure services reach the people who need them.
