AI dissolves the boundaries that cybersecurity was designed to defend. For decades, security operated within defined perimeters. Endpoints were managed through user authentication and device controls. Networks moved predictable traffic through inspected paths. Applications ran in fixed environments with known dependencies. The entire vendor ecosystem was built around protecting those discrete layers. Customers are being gaslit by security vendors claiming they've got AI security covered. They don't. OpenAI launched ChatGPT Atlas last week, a browser with ChatGPT built directly into the browsing experience. It joins Comet from Perplexity and Dia from The Browser Company. AI browsers introduce distinct security risks for enterprises. Researchers have already demonstrated successful attacks, including prompt injection vulnerabilities and a "Tainted Memories" exploit where malicious instructions planted in persistent memory can execute across sessions and devices without visible indicators.
