How can health teams reach more people, in more places, in less time – without waiting for larger budgets? Last year, Mozambique’s Tete Province showed us what’s possible with joined-up care. By bringing vaccination, nutrition, family planning and malaria under one government-led plan, health teams delivered unprecedented impact. The approach is now being scaled nationally across Mozambique. I’ve shared the three things that made this progress possible in our latest newsletter. Last mile or first mile? At #WHS2026, we’re asking what changes when health systems start with the people they serve, rather than the programmes designed to reach them. Last mile or first mile? This week at the World Health Summit, there’s been a lot of talk about the last mile. But for a mother seeking care for her child or a health worker tending to patients, this is the first mile. By working hand-in-hand with governments in Mozambique, Pakistan, Nigeria and the DRC, Acasus has seen how starting with the challenges citizens and frontline health workers face can help drive wider improvements across the health system. If you’re in Berlin for #WHS2026, drop me a message. I’d love to connect and chat more! #SystemSolving #FirstMile

We talk constantly about reaching the last mile. But next week in Berlin we want to ask a different question: last from whose perspective? For the mother trying to find safe care, the child a health system has missed, or the health worker trying to reach a distant community, it may be the first mile, and that distinction matters. More to follow from Berlin. Leave a comment if you’ll be on the ground and would like to connect. ⬇️ 📷: Yagazie Yemezi #BraveChange #WHS2026
