𝗪𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿: 𝗔 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘁 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 Landfills, wastewater treatment plants and agricultural facilities may already have a valuable energy asset within their operations! The American Biogas Council reports that about 1,200 U.S. wastewater treatment plants already capture biogas from wastewater and use it to generate energy resources, while 3,800 more plants have enough wastewater to make biogas recovery a viable option. Biogas produced from organic waste can be captured and upgraded into renewable natural gas (RNG). Once refined, RNG is chemically equivalent to conventional natural gas and can be integrated into existing infrastructure without major changes. AB Energy USA’s BIOCH4NGE® uses membrane technology to purify biogas into RNG, with a modular, plug-and-play design that simplifies deployment and can scale to meet a facility’s needs while maintaining low energy consumption. 𝗔𝗕 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗨𝗦𝗔 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝟮 𝗚𝗪 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗢𝗻-𝗦𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 AB Energy USA has secured 2 GW of generation capacity across five on-site data center projects in Texas and Oklahoma, marking an important milestone as developers look for ways to bring reliable power and cooling online alongside new facilities. Through modular cogeneration and trigeneration, these projects are designed to do more with the energy they generate. ECOMAX modular systems, featuring INNIO Jenbacher gas engines, provide continuous on-site power while capturing residual heat that can be converted into chilled water to support critical data center cooling needs. This integrated approach to power and cooling can help data center developers reduce reliance on grid interconnection timelines and bring new capacity online faster. AB Energy USA partnered with Eradeh Power Consulting on several of these projects, pairing their deep load-side engineering expertise with AB's experience designing and delivering on-site energy systems to tailor each solution to the specific needs of the data center. We're proud to work alongside our customers and partners to help build the energy infrastructure needed for the next generation of data centers. 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗣𝘂𝗹𝘀𝗲 𝗻𝗼. 𝟲: 𝗢𝗻-𝗦𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗙𝘂𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺 As power demand continues to grow and grid infrastructure is under growing strain, policymakers are now considering how to bolster on-site power to help meet demand. The proposed STRONG GRID Act would invest $700M in microgrids and distributed energy projects to improve reliability and help facilities remain operational during grid disruptions and extreme weather events. For manufacturers, hospitals, wastewater facilities, greenhouses, and other operations that depend on continuous power, on-site cogeneration can be part of that solution. Cogeneration produces electricity while recovering heat that would otherwise be wasted, helping facilities use fuel more efficiently and reducing the amount of power they need to draw from the grid, and gives operators another source of dependable power when grid reliability is a concern. ⚡ 𝗨𝗦 𝗘𝗡𝗘𝗥𝗚𝗬 𝗣𝗨𝗟𝗦𝗘 𝗜𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲 𝗻.𝟱 – 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 As AI drives larger, more power-intensive facilities, water use is becoming a major consideration in development. Axios recently highlighted how water availability is increasingly shaping decisions around data center site selection and long-term operations. Cooling systems play a significant role in those decisions. For many projects, planning now goes beyond securing enough power; developers also have to consider how they'll cool facilities efficiently while keeping construction timelines and operating costs on track. One approach? Trigeneration! By generating electricity on-site while recovering heat to produce chilled water for cooling, trigeneration can help meet power and cooling needs within a single system. For facilities with continuous cooling demand, like data centers, this can improve overall efficiency and reduce reliance on separate cooling infrastructure.
