I have often shared episodes featuring the incredible leaders showcased in our What Fuels You? series. This time, however, I am both humbled and delighted to say that the latest guest is me. I shared a cup of blonde roast coffee with Andrew J. Troup and reflected on some of the experiences, beliefs, and lessons that continue to shape my perspective and leadership in this sector – but one of the things I really wanted to focus on was my optimism about the future. Not because the challenges facing our sector aren't real. They are. Social impact leaders are being asked to navigate uncertainty, embrace new technologies like AI, and continue demonstrating impact in an increasingly complex environment. But what gives me confidence is the resilience of this community. Every day, I have the privilege of working alongside leaders who are finding new ways to solve problems and move this important work forward. They are the reason I still believe that the world can be a better place through the work that we do. And they are ultimately what continues to fuel me as a leader. Thank you, Andrew, for the conversation. If you'd like to watch, I've shared the full episode in the comments. Andrew J. Troup

🎥 Every time I sit down to film an episode of What Fuels You?, I am reminded how fortunate I am to learn from the leaders shaping the future of our sector. This conversation, however, was a little closer to my heart. 💚 Instead of speaking with an external guest, I had the opportunity to spend time with someone I have worked alongside and learned from for almost a decade: our President of Corporate Impact, Dale Strange Most people in our community know Dale for his leadership, his advocacy for purpose-driven business, and his unwavering commitment to this sector. In this especially meaningful episode, I had the chance to explore the experiences, values, and beliefs that have shaped that leadership. We talked about everything from marathon training and board service to AI and the future of our sector. What struck me most, though, was Dale's optimism. He sees the challenges and changes ahead, however he also sees firsthand the resilience, creativity, and commitment of the people driving this work forward every day. Dale, thank you for turning the tables and allowing us to learn a little more about the person behind the role. If you are curious about what fuels one of the strongest champions of purpose-driven business I know, I have shared the full conversation in the comments.

I think most of us can look back and point to a time when we perceived something as a disadvantage. I know I certainly can. Our instinct is often to move past it or work around it; however, I recently had a conversation with the lovely Gillie Fairbrother, Responsible Business Leader at Davies who gave us a glimpse of adversity through a new lens: as a type of fuel. In an incredibly special, first-ever live episode of “What Fuels You?” Gillie walked me through her life - sharing her earliest memories of adversity, her perspectives on belonging and allyship, and all of the inspiration and experiences that have guided her to her purpose. Though her journey was filled with twists and turns and pivots, what struck me was her willingness to look back at each challenge; not as obstacles, but as a strength which continues to push her forward today. Thank you, Gillie, for sharing so openly and honestly, and thank you to everyone who joined us live at our YourCause from Blackbaud Corporate Social Impact Summit in London. Please see the comments below for the link to the full episode. You will absolutely want to carve our a few minutes to watch! 📹
