Sad but true: The countries that contribute the least amount of greenhouse gases feel the effects of climate change the most. The recent flash flood in Nepal is a case in point, as observed by Chris Montgomery, one of our roving reporters. Nepal produces only around 0.1% of global emissions, they're experiencing the brunt of it first-hand. For vulnerable communities, climate change isn't a warning about a future danger. It's a reality they're facing today. World Vision International Nepal

It was a clear, sunny morning when without warning, a massive flash flood tore through communities. How did it happen? Watch to see how the flash flood came about, as well as before-and-after images of the resulting devastation. Roslyn Gabriel, National Director at World Vision International Nepal, explains how the flood swept through entire communities unexpectedly. Within one hour, 35 road bridges and 45 foot bridges destroyed, homes washed away. Children are our top priority. Roslyn explains why many children would have been separated from their parents, and what that means for our response. Our teams are working to support affected families with urgent assistance and care in the wake of this disaster: - basic needs, such as food, water, and shelter - psychosocial support for children, including helplines and child-friendly spaces Watch and share this video to help more people understand what happened, how it happened, and what's needed right now.

🚨Severe flooding is devastating communities across Nepal. At least 18 people are missing and around 60 homes have been swept away after floodwaters tore through communities in Rasuwa and Nuwakot. Roads and bridges have washed away, leaving some of the hardest-hit areas cut off from rescue teams. World Vision is monitoring the situation, assessing the impact on children and families, and stands ready to respond. 🙏 Please pray for those still missing, families who have lost everything, grieving communities, and the safety of rescue teams.🧡

When the world looks away, humanitarian workers keep showing up. Today, World Food Programme says, 14 million Afghans face acute hunger, while child malnutrition has reached record levels in 12 provinces, with children under two among the hardest hit. According to United Nations OCHA , in 2026, an estimated 21.9 million people, nearly half the population, will require humanitarian assistance. In #Afghanistan, a severely malnourished one-year-old travelled eight hours by foot and donkey to reach care. Not because his family had certainty. Because they believed someone would open the clinic door. In his World Humanitarian Day reflection, Mark Calder PhD of World Vision Afghanistan challenges how we talk about hope. Hope is not optimism. It is the quiet faithfulness of parents who make impossible journeys, and of health workers who continue serving communities through drought, funding cuts and uncertainty. For millions of children, this hope depends on sustained humanitarian support. This #WorldHumanitarianDay, let us stand with those who keep showing up, and ensure they have the resources to keep lifesaving services open for children and families who need them most.
