"The cost of inaction is even worse than the cost of investing and finding those transitional, transformative solutions." — Anna Ryott, Nordic Chief Impact Officer, EY. We sat down with Anna Ryott and Johanna Fager, Head of Sustainability at Swedbank, at Climate Week NYC to discuss the critical need to rethink capital allocation. 💡 There is no shortage of capital in the world, but connecting it to scalable climate solutions requires making those models truly investable. "We are used to relying on history when calculating risk. We can't do that anymore with the speed of change." 🚨 Risk management in banking is entering uncharted territory. Historical data no longer provides an accurate forecast, leaving financial institutions to navigate unprecedented uncertainty. Johanna Fager from Swedbank highlights why banks can no longer afford to wait for complete information. Instead, navigating today's landscape requires a deeper understanding of macro trends and corporate strategy—because the cost of inaction is simply too high. 💸 Re-watch the full interview from #ClimateWeekNYC on We Don't Have Time 👇 https://lnkd.in/dPcWzdmM EY Anna Ryott

"We need to stop talking just about the potential of #Ukraine and start talking about very clear, concrete projects." 🇺🇦 As centralized power stations come under attack, more Ukrainian farmers and small businesses are turning to green energy. But scaling that shift takes more than aid. At #ClimateWeekNYC, Vicki Aken of Prosper Global discussed what it takes to attract investment to Ukraine's energy sector and the role grants play in bringing in private capital. "This is a national security issue. Fossil fuel phase-out is an energy security issue." 🚨 At #ClimateWeekNYC, we spoke with Tzeporah Berman, Chair of the Fossil Fuel Treaty Initiative, on why phase-out is accelerating. The 35,000 heat deaths in Europe this summer, the 2,400 Nepalese buried alive, and the Strait of Hormuz conflict show that fossil fuel dependency now reads as vulnerability, arriving just as renewables have become cheaper and scalable enough to replace it. 60 countries showed up in Santa Marta this year. 30 are already backing a Fossil Fuel Treaty; momentum is building. "The best investment you can make is in our natural systems for helping people" 🌿 At #ClimateWeekNYC, Elizabeth Gray, Ph.D., CEO of the National Audubon Society, makes the case for investing in natural infrastructure. She points to a gap most engineers aren't trained for: building grey infrastructure follows known formulas, but restoring natural systems as infrastructure is a different skill set entirely- and arguably the better investment.
