Booking.com says properties with a complete page get up to 18% more bookings. Expedia says a unique photo for each room type lifts conversion by up to 11%. Most room lists still look like this. Deluxe Room, €182. DLX KG SV, €176. Superior Double, Sea View, €194. Same room, from three suppliers. A traveller looking at that list can’t tell which one has the king bed, which has the view, or why the cheapest one has no photo. So they go back to search, or book somewhere else. The room selection step is where a lot of bookings drop, and price is often not what puts people off. Group rooms once at the mapping layer, by bed type, view and size, and every supplier you add makes that page clearer.

Is your hotel data prepared for AI-Driven booking? Since late August, people in the US can book a hotel without leaving Google’s AI Mode. Booking.com, Expedia, Marriott, Hilton and IHG were among the first partners. The AI reads a listing field by field and checks it against every other source it has for that hotel. Here is what it struggles with most: 1) Duplicate records - The same hotel under two names. 2) Vague room names - “Superior Room” says nothing about the bed, the view or the size. 3) Missing bed type or occupancy - A family of four can’t be matched to a room that doesn’t say who it sleeps. 4) Wrong coordinates - A hotel placed a few hundred metres off falls outside the area the traveller asked for. 5) Amenities that disagree - One supplier lists a pool, another doesn’t. 6) Unclear cancellation terms - Different terms across suppliers, and the traveller sees the wrong policy. How to get your hotel data ready - 1) One record per hotel, across every supplier. 2) Rooms described by bed type, occupancy, view and size, not just a name. 3) Coordinates checked across sources, with a flag where suppliers disagree. 4) One agreed source for each amenity, photo and description. 5) Rates attached to the right room. 6) Clear cancellation, tax and check-in terms, kept up to date. The image has a quick test you can run on your 50 busiest hotels. Full checklist in the comments.

The top 10 problems travel teams face, from 2,000+ of our calls. We analyzed all of our sales calls from the last year and these are the problems that kept coming up the most. 1) Adding suppliers - Mapping manually works with one supplier. Every new supplier means matching hotels again. 2) Rooms - “Deluxe King” from one supplier, “Superior Double” from another. If they don’t match, the wrong rate shows. 3) Margin after booking - Hotel prices often drop after a booking, and most platforms never rebook. 4) Cost - Mapping is a never ending job, the engineering hours, the extra hires and the upkeep every time supplier data changes, and it usually ends up costing more 5) Content - Missing photos often come down to supplier approvals, which can take weeks. 6) Gaps and duplicates - Hotels that never get mapped, and the same hotel showing up twice at two prices. 7) Wrong data reaching customers - A wrong star rating, or two hotels merged into one. 8) Data going stale - Supplier data changes every week, and full dumps fall behind. 9) Engineering time & Scaling - What works for a few thousand hotels breaks at tens of thousands & someone on the tech team ends up maintaining mapping instead of building product. 10) Languages - Arabic, Turkish and Russian content that most suppliers don’t carry well. These are the problems we work on every day, with hotel and room mapping across 200+ suppliers and Profit Maximizer for what happens after the booking.
