Caitlyn G., RN, has always been passionate about helping people when the need is greatest. This passion has been the driving force in her career journey at University Hospitals. From the very beginning, as a PCNA and ER Tech, Caitlyn has thrived on the fast pace and adrenaline-pumping unpredictability of working in emergency services. This excitement motivated her to pursue her dream of becoming a registered nurse. And she continues to grow in her role to this day. As Caitlyn says, “The ED challenges me to think quickly, prioritize effects, and adapt to changing situations. Every patient is different and helps me learn something new, causing me to grow into a stronger nurse.” At UH, we’re proud to have helped Caitlyn in her professional journey. We’re committed to the ongoing growth and advancement of our people. We invest in their careers, support their goals and empower them to always reach higher, including moving into leadership roles. Caitlyn says, “My manager and assistant managers have supported me and pushed me into being a strong nurse in a leadership role.” For Caitlyn, all of her hard work has been more than worth it. “ED reminds me why I became a nurse: to help when it matters most. Make an impact using instincts under pressure and treating every patient with empathy. Looking back at the end of a long shift, I know I gave someone comfort and safety during a hard time.” If you’re looking to grow your career in a stimulating and supportive environment, bring your career to University Hospitals. https://lnkd.in/erXH6eEx #UHProud #UHCareers #UHNursing

At University Hospitals, we’re committed to advancing the frontiers of medical innovation and patient safety. Jessica B., Assistant Nurse Manager, UH Cleveland Medical Center, is a shining example of this commitment. With a Bachelor’s degree in middle childhood education for math and science, she has a unique appreciation for the transformative power of the STEM disciplines. After attaining her nursing degree, Jessica applied her math and science perspective to her work at University Hospitals. When it comes to clinical innovation, Jessica is passionate about the process of actively looking for new ways to solve problems, improve patient safety and outcomes, and enhance the overall quality of care. “The key to successful innovation and change starts on the unit level,” Jessica says. “It starts with ensuring staff members are engaged in the process and receptive to change. We achieve this by creating a supportive environment where all staff feel comfortable expressing their opinions and concerns, sharing their ideas, and giving and receiving feedback.” On Jessica’s unit, staff members are involved in brainstorming, decision-making, and implementation. Quality improvement is the responsibility of the entire team. Once an issue is identified, they research existing evidence-based practices (EBP) and use this to guide their decision-making when searching for creative solutions to make improvements. Jessica credits the stimulating and supportive culture of UH for her success. “Whether we’re talking about research and innovation, continuing education, or career growth and development, UH offers an abundance of opportunities and resources,” Jessica says. “And there are plenty of supportive, friendly people to assist you in identifying and reaching your goals.” Learn more about our commitment to life-saving innovation and career growth. Then apply to become part of our exciting future. https://lnkd.in/epfNq4z3 #UHNursing #UHCareers #UHProud

At University Hospitals Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital, we’re passionate about advancing the treatment of childhood cancer. That’s why we’re so excited to announce that St. Baldrick’s Foundation, the largest volunteer-driven organization funding childhood cancer research, has awarded a $200,000 David's Warriors St. Baldrick's Research Grant to our own John Letterio, MD. Dr. Letterio is the Chief of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital, the Director of the Angie Fowler Adolescent & Young Adult Cancer Institute, and the Jane and Lee Seidman Chair in Pediatric Cancer Innovation. The grant will provide two years of funding for Dr. Letterio’s project, “Development of a Novel NF-κB Targeting Agent for Pediatric Neuroblastoma.” The project is focused on improving outcomes for children with high-risk neuroblastoma, a cancer known for its high relapse rate. During this, the 25th anniversary year of the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, UH Rainbow is proud to pledge our continued support for this remarkable organization. Thanks to St. Baldrick’s, experts at UH Rainbow, UH Seidman Cancer Center, Angie’s Institute, and Case Western Reserve University have made significant strides in advancing treatment options for children and young adults diagnosed with cancer. If you share our commitment to advancing the frontiers of cancer treatment, we invite you to join us on our exciting journey of medical discovery. https://lnkd.in/gzqiJazZ #UHNursing #UHCareers #UHProud
