🚨 A newly disclosed Linux kernel vulnerability could allow remote attackers to gain root access to vulnerable servers. CVE-2026-98432 is a critical Linux kernel vulnerability with a CVSS score of 9.8. The flaw affects IPv4 TCP connection handling and could allow attackers to exploit a use-after-free condition remotely. 🤖 Anthropic claims its Claude AI model developed an exploit capable of gaining root access on vulnerable Linux servers with exposed Multipath TCP listeners. 👇 Learn which distributions are affected, where patches are available, and how to protect your systems: https://lnkd.in/gZSV5Ep8/?utm_campaign=Boost_Post_Engagement_Oct30,2026&utm_source=linkedin&utm_medium=paid&utm_id=1241402536&hsa_acc=509441283&hsa_cam=1241402536&hsa_grp=922143296&hsa_ad=1668559956&hsa_net=linkedin&hsa_ver=3 --- #TuxCare #linux #cybersecurity #opensource #technology #ransomware #linuxsecurity #software #hacking #devops #privacy

🎖️ That shiny provenance badge on npm proves where a package was built. It says nothing about what’s inside. 💢 A hijacked commit or workflow still earns valid provenance 💢 Missing provenance is a signal nobody is watching 💢 Run npm audit signatures in CI to see what’s actually attested A seal on the box doesn’t tell you what’s in the box. Open it before you run it. 📦🔍 https://lnkd.in/giwefYTZ

📦 You shipped the security fix. CI is green. The package manager installed the vulnerable version anyway. ➡ npm sees 4.7.3-patched.2 as a prerelease, so it sorts below the vulnerable release ➡ 8 constraint checks across 4 package managers, and the patch won only 3 ➡ Pin the patched build explicitly, since no resolver will find it for you Version numbers are just vibes until the resolver reads them. Name your patch like you mean it. 🏷️🩹 https://lnkd.in/gAHh7EQs

🔍 A patched package can be available in your registry and still never make it into your application. While rebuilding open-source packages for SecureChain, we tested how npm, Maven, Gradle, and Python's pip handle patched package versions. The findings? Across eight dependency constraint checks, the patched version was selected only three times. Even more surprisingly, Maven and Gradle can interpret the same package metadata differently, leading to different dependency versions being installed. In our latest SecureChain Field Notes, we break down why package managers sometimes skip security patches and what developers can do to ensure the patched versions actually get installed. 👇 Read the full analysis: https://lnkd.in/gftNmxHY/?utm_campaign=Boost_Post_Engagement_Oct27,2026&utm_source=linkedin&utm_medium=paid&utm_id=1238523896&hsa_acc=509441283&hsa_cam=1238523896&hsa_grp=919097336&hsa_ad=1662241246&hsa_net=linkedin&hsa_ver=3 --- #TuxCare #linux #cybersecurity #opensource #technology #ransomware #linuxsecurity #software #hacking #devops #privacy
