What are you waiting for?

Boom. There it is. The NEXTBMS characterization, teardown and ageing battery dataset and accompanying manuscript are now public and available for download. Over the past years, the #HorizonEurope NEXTBMS project partners TNO, AIT Austrian Institute of Technology, Kemijski inštitut - National Institute of Chemistry and University of Ljubljana have collaborated intensively to generate an extensive battery dataset spanning three dimensions for the same commercial 58Ah NMC 532 | graphite cells: 🔋full-cell characterisation (3 cells), 🔋accelerated ageing (41 cells: 5 calendar and 36 cyclic), 🔋teardown, material analysis (SEM/EDX) and half-cell measurements. Beyond the headline figures, you will find deep effort invested in material analysis, experiment design and more, as carefully explained in our manuscript, currently under review, but already available here: https://lnkd.in/e2ahWMnN The dataset and processing code are available here: https://lnkd.in/eHa3GqsS https://lnkd.in/espG8bMk In short, a fantastic basis for (physics-based) battery modelling and algorithm development such as fast-charging and ageing prediction. Many thanks to all authors for all their contributions: Róbinson Medina, Alessio Alberto Lodge, Feye Hoekstra, Steven Wilkins, Damian Cupid, Akzhan B., Dominik Dvorak, Hansjörg Kapeller, Gregor Kapun, Joze Moskon, Blaž Tratnik, Igor Mele and Tomaž Katrašnik! Special thanks to my colleague Róbinson Medina for getting this across the finish line. #BMSAlliance #BatteryManagementSystems #BatteryInnovation #EnergyStorage #BatteryTechnology #Research #Innovation #NEXTBMS #HorizonEurope

The car of the future may be autonomous. But that does not automatically give us the mobility system of the future. That is one of the central messages Tjark Tjin-A-Tsoi, CEO of TNO, brought to the 2026 ITS World Congress in Gangneung, South Korea. AI, sensors, semiconductors and advanced connectivity are rapidly changing what is possible. But making individual vehicles smarter is not enough. The real challenge is to make the entire mobility system smarter, connecting vehicles, infrastructure, public transport and digital networks. And that raises a bigger question. How do we build such a system so that it is not only intelligent and efficient, but also safe, resilient and trusted? Ultimately, technology is not the objective. People are. In his new LinkedIn article, Tjark argues that the mobility transition requires more than technological ambition. It requires a systems perspective, trust by design and realism about what people actually value. Because in the end, we are building the system for humans, not humans for the system. Read the full article below 👇 With thanks to Olaf Op den Camp, Ronnie van Munster, Martijn Stamm, Sangok Lee, Jacqueline Verbeek-Nijhof and moderator Prof. Hwasoo Yeo of Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology And to our partners ERTICO - ITS Europe, Korea ITS, Innovatie Attaché Netwerk / IAN (Netherlands Innovation Network) and Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Korea.
