[Partnering with Geely Farizon to expand methanol use in Hong Kong] To build a comprehensive methanol energy value chain and drive the low-carbon transition of Hong Kong’s transport and construction sectors, Towngas has entered a strategic partnership with Zhejiang Lvdong Alcohol Hydrogen Technology Service Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Geely Farizon New Energy Commercial Vehicle Group (Geely Farizon). The agreement has been signed under the witness of Mr Don Cheng, Towngas Chief Operating Officer – Hong Kong Business, and Dr Song Zhaohuan, Geely Farizon Vice President. Capitalising on their respective networks and technological strengths, Towngas and Geely Farizon will collaborate closely on methanol fuel supply, methanol refuelling infrastructure, as well as the promotion and application of methanol commercial vehicles in Hong Kong. To support the demand for the fuel, we are steadily expanding the production capacity of our joint venture VENEX, which converts waste tyres, as well as agricultural and forestry residues, into internationally certified green methanol. [First Towngas-built AI launched for smarter, digitalised operations] Towngas is proud to inaugurate “TGAI”, the first artificial intelligence platform we developed in collaboration with xFusion Global and ICO Technology Limited, to offer AI computing power and large model service to our operations. TGAI leverages Towngas’ energy support, the robust computing infrastructure of our telecom arm Towngas Telecom (TGT), as well as the advanced computing hardware capabilities of xFusion and ICO’s expertise in IT services and system integration. Earlier, TGT, xFusion and ICO sealed a long-term strategic cooperation under the witness of Towngas Executive Director & Chief Financial Officer, Mr Edmund Yeung. [From the National Games to a hydrogen future] In support of the 2025 National Games’ green vision, Towngas backed the golf event with the first integrated hydrogen power generator in Hong Kong. As Don Cheng, Towngas Chief Operating Officer – Hong Kong Business, shares, this groundbreaking application has demonstrated the city’s innovative capabilities in hydrogen energy application and sustainable development, while simultaneously reducing the event’s carbon emissions. The generator set, approximately the size of a shipping container, contains an integrated power generation system and hydrogen storage cylinders. Combined with a battery energy storage system, it utilised hydrogen extracted from our pipeline network, which has an approximate content of 50% hydrogen, to generate electricity at the venue. We have arranged for students, as well as environmental and academic groups to visit the hydrogen power generation system, allowing them to gain first-hand understanding of its operations.
