Whether you’re leading a classroom, advising students, or shaping campus culture, this research-based playbook is your guide to building connections across divides on campus.

Do kind leaders finish last—or does kindness actually pay off? We’re thrilled to invite you to join us on December 1, 2025, for Why Kind Leaders Win — an inspiring on-stage conversation presented by the Greater Good Science Center, in partnership with the Berkeley Haas Center for Workplace Culture and Innovation at University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business at University of California, Berkeley. This one-of-a-kind event brings together UC Berkeley Chancellor Rich Lyons HubSpot CEO Yamini Rangan, Ocho Chocolates/Whole Foods 365 founder Denis Ring, University of Washington professor Weili Ge, Workhuman’s Chief Human Experience Officer KeyAnna Schmiedl, and our own science director Emiliana Simon-Thomas, facilitated by Kia Afcari, director of GGSC Workplaces. Together, they’ll share compelling stories, cutting-edge research, and practical insights on the value of kindness in leadership.
