“The universe is made of stories, not atoms.” So said activist and poet Muriel Rukeyser in the 60s. Neuroscience has proven her right. - Our brains run on narrative. - We tell ourselves stories to make sense of the world, justify our choices, and decide what to do next. - The AI technology we’re panicking about are Large Language Models - storytellers at scale. Your internal monologue is already shaping your next move. What stories are you telling yourself about what comes next? Apart from lunch. The antidote to mass panels and rent-a-crowd focus groups - The Good Collective is an opportunity for real collaboration with hand-picked young talent who short cut to the heart of your challenge. So often in research, there are a handful of contributors who get you straight to the transformative idea. Our network of 100 young creatives, activists and cultural voices from across the UK will help you do just that. Flick through for five way to engage. They’re already advising on youth strategy, refining creative work and diving into cultural trends for Movember and UNICEF (and other clients we can't talk about) - and we’re in discussion with more partners every week. Everyone loves the idea of trying to change the world. But sometimes, we’re just trying to change one person. The bottom line is we operate in a hierarchical system, and real impact comes from influencing people with power. Come the revolution all this could change, but for now the reality is thus. The Good Side | BCorp™ loves the journey of insight, but its purpose is to drive change by shaping decisions. In this short, Kathryn Blanshard and I discuss - Why real impact often rests on a handful of people - How storytelling can shift industry perspectives - When showing less can actually achieve more Check out the full episode in the comments for more on strategy, storytelling, and impact. I’ll share a link to the Kenya documentary too. #insight #impact #strategy #influence #mrx

‘There are no answers, only choices’ If you’ve worked with me, you’ll know how often I reference this Stanislaw Lem quote. Strategic insight isn’t about providing answers, it’s about helping people make better choices. Insights are not truths - no matter how much phrases like ‘universal truth’ get bandied around in agencies and strategy decks. Truth suggests surety. Right and wrong. Reality is far more complex, and where it gets most real is in the messy grey areas. Great research works its way through the complexity to find ways through. Insights are inspiration for action. They’re guiding lights that illuminate a direction forward. When you let go of finding the ‘right’ answer, you allow yourself to make better choices. Also, Solaris is an awesome film, with an incredible soundtrack from Cliff Martinez. Highly recommend. Has anyone read the book?? When ideas can come from anywhere, how do you know where to look? The guardrails of culture and creativity have shifted exponentially - and with them the power dynamics of who gets to decide what’s in or out. The old ways of trend hunting, rarified urban mavens and creative authority just do not hold true any more. And that opens up a much more exciting, dynamic playing field. In The Good Side | BCorp™ ‘Adaptation as Business Strategy’ podcast, Kathryn Blanshard and I explore how: - We’ve moved beyond the “prosumer” - Stories are emerging from everywhere, not just the metropolises - Brands need fresh narratives to stand out - Culture now moves top-down and bottom-up, so listening must evolve Tune in for more cultural intelligence, hot takes and strategic shifts.
