I was never the "proper psychologist." Too brash. Too questioning. Too much. I was the kid who always asked "why?" - and if you couldn't tell me why, I wasn't going to do it. That didn't exactly go down well in clinical training. For years, I tried to squeeze myself into the mould. Be more measured. More reserved. More... beige. Then I moved to Australia, got chewed up by the contractor model, and finally thought: what if I just... stopped trying to fit? What if I built something that actually aligned with my values instead? I sat down with Dr. Hayley Kelly on the Therapists Rising Podcast to talk about all of it - the salaried model, scaling to five sites, building an academy, and giving yourself permission to want more than one-to-one work forever. If you've ever felt like an outsider in this profession, this one's for you. 🎧 Catch the episode wherever you listen to podcasts by searching for "Therapists Rising"...
