𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗱𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹 Scientists have tracked thousands of wildlife groups since 1970. On average, each one is now roughly a quarter of its original size. Protecting what remains starts with accurate data, collected without disturbing animals in their natural habitats. RFID technology gives every animal its own digital identity: one tag, one animal. Researchers tracked White-lipped Peccaries visiting salt licks, and Painted Buntings, small migratory songbirds, at feeding sites. Each visit was recorded automatically, identity, date, and location, without recapturing the animal. Silicon Craft develops LF RFID microchips for animal identification, supporting current ISO 11784/11785 standards as well as legacy protocols, used across research, livestock management, and international conservation programs. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈𝐟 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐕𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐓𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐇𝐚𝐝 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐝? Fresh vegetables come with no date at all. You are left guessing, and by the time you can smell it, the decision has been made for you. In a recent study, a team at Imperial College London built a paper gas sensor that reads the spoilage gases inside the pack. One tap of your phone, and it answers: Fresh, or Not Fresh. At the heart of it sits the Silicon Craft’s SIC4341 NFC Sensor Interface Chip. It measures conductance and talks to the phone at the same time, with no battery on board. 20 seconds per reading. Low cost enough to be disposable, yet accurate enough to match laboratory microbial counts. We unpacked the research in our latest article. Curious how a sheet of paper and a tiny chip could answer a question your produce has never been able to? 𝗥𝗙𝗜𝗗-𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗟𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗿𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 Managing large volumes of linens, uniforms, and garments is challenging for hotels, hospitals, industrial laundries, and uniform rental providers. Industry data shows hotels can lose 20 to 30 percent of linen inventory annually, often costing tens of thousands of dollars a year. Without automated tracking, organizations face inventory inaccuracies, misplaced items, and time-consuming manual counting. SIC56NL, a High Frequency RFID chip designed by Silicon Craft Technology for textile tracking, addresses this. Operators sew RFID tags containing SIC56NL chips into items like bedsheets, towels, and uniforms. As these items move through collection, washing, storage, and distribution, RFID readers automatically identify and record their presence. The chip also supports NFC Forum Type 5, letting compatible smartphones access tags for tasks like housekeeping audits and asset inspections. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲 For decades, utility operators have located buried assets using paper maps, physical markers, and disconnected databases. Those methods often lead to inaccurate asset records, time-consuming maintenance work, and costly excavation damage. An RFID tag changes what a crew knows before they start. Installed at critical points along the network, it holds the asset's own record: pipeline identification number, installation date, pipe material, maintenance history, inspection status, and ownership. Silicon Craft designed the SIC379 microchip to work in underground environments, and tags built with it can keep their data for many years. As utility networks expand, that is what reliable digital asset management looks like.
