Many connected products were designed around app-based control. §14a limits follow a different path, and app controls alone may not be enough.

Reducing power on command is only one step. §14a readiness requires a complete control loop - from receiving commands to handling failures and recovery.

The deal is signed. Then the client asks for proof: was the §14a limit received, applied, and reported back? Dimming alone can’t answer that.

§14a technical guidance is still evolving and open to interpretation. Devices already in the field may require updates, and without reliable OTA, every change becomes slow and expensive.

When the connection drops during an active limit, the device may need to hold the last valid limit or switch to a conservative mode - the same way every time.
