A few months ago, Reddit was the second most-cited domain in AI answers. Maybe you've already heard that its share has shifted dramatically, cratering almost overnight. If your AI visibility plan was "get mentioned on Reddit," that plan aged in weeks. This is the trap with chasing one platform: you optimize for where the citations are today, and the model quietly moves on. Here's the thing worth internalizing. AI answers are built on what people say about you across the web, not on any single source you can game. The conversation is the input. The citation is just the output. So we stopped running these as two separate jobs and started treating them as one loop. Planable's Social Listening picks up the conversations people are having about us across social and the web. And this is the part I like most: it reads your brand context and filters for reputable sources with a real chance of being cited by AI, so the feed fills up with mentions that actually shape your narrative instead of off-target noise. SE Visible by SE Ranking then shows which of those conversations are feeding the AI answers we show up in, and which answers we're missing. One tells you what's being said. The other tells you where it's landing in AI. Together they close the gap between the conversation and the citation, so you're not guessing which mentions are doing the work. Reddit's slide is the reminder: whatever's feeding AI answers today won't be the same list in six months. That's the whole point of watching the conversation instead of betting on one platform. You see the shift coming instead of finding out when your citations quietly disappear. None of this is really an SEO problem anymore. It's an ecosystem now: a lot of people talking across a lot of places, and whether you're in the room when they do. About 6 years ago, my team and I were working through budgeting. So, we were attributing results back to spend, and I asked what was our biggest contributor. I love the answer my colleague gave: It’s all the things. There are so many tight interactions between marketing programs. They reinforce each other and make the outcome more likely, and more difficult to measure. One of the most time-sensitive today is how search, AI search, and social interact. The team here at SE Ranking decided to test that out for AI search and its connection with social and SEO. As a first test, the team analyzed Google’s top 10 for 100,000 (wow) searches across 20 niches. In 77% of those results, there was a social or community source in the results. That’s a Reddit thread, a YouTube video, forum post, etc. Then the team looked at AI answers and ⅔ of AI Overviews had a social or community source too. People are discussing your brand and that’s the raw material that search and AI search results are built on. And this “all the things” is why I came to SE Ranking and Planable. Instead of seeing search, social, and now AI search, as being separate, we’re seeing that they directly feed each other. The team decided to then look into how our own brand can move the needle even more on AI search. They wrote up the results of their experiments with social. And it’s pretty revealing about how to change your strategy today. https://lnkd.in/ekRij364). If you’re trying to figure out why or how to bring together all the things for more brand visibility online, I got a lot from the read.

The channel deciding most of your pipeline is the one you can't put in a report. Last year I ran a small experiment. New domain, zero backlinks, content written entirely by AI. Google barely touched it. Within a couple of months ChatGPT was citing it as a source and sending real traffic. That broke something in how I think about demand. Because the thing sending people my way never showed up in my analytics. No campaign. No UTM. No last click. A machine read a page, decided it was worth quoting, and recommended it. I only knew because I went looking. Now scale that to your brand. The conversations that decide whether you get recommended, a Reddit thread, a comparison post, a review on some blog you've never opened, are the same ones AI engines pull from. None of them fit your attribution model. You can't attribute a conversation you never saw. And most brands never see these at all. So here's where demand gen goes next, at least for my team: SE Ranking to see where we stand in AI answers. Cited, or invisible. Planable's Social Listening to see the conversations feeding those answers. Our brand, our competitors, our category, across social and the web. The stance: if your plan is to keep optimizing only the channels you can cleanly measure, you're optimizing a shrinking slice of how buying actually happens. The part you can't trace is where more of the decision is being made every quarter. I'm not saying stop measuring. I'm saying stop treating the measured part as the whole picture. And if you want to see the conversations your reporting misses, that's what Social Listening was built for 👉 https://lnkd.in/eb2hiesi

Your AI visibility report names the prompts your brand is missing from. It doesn't close a single one of them, and next month's report says the same thing. Connect the SE Ranking and Planable MCPs to your AI assistant and one run does both: prompt gaps out of SE Ranking, then the comparisons, FAQs and definitions back as drafts in Planable.

Half of Google's top 10 now includes a social platform. Your brand's visibility stopped being a search project and a social project. It's one presence, and most teams still budget it as two. The SE Ranking and Planable MCPs connect to your AI assistant, so search demand and social performance answer in the same conversation.
