“The basis was that the façade should be seen, prominent and inviting, a true eye catcher. At the same time, the façade needed to be strong and lasting and withstand any damage,” said architect Emmie Tabrizi Carlsson at Fredblad Arkitekter Fredblad Arkitekter. These ambitions guided the design and construction of Lyckeskolan school in Kinna, Sweden. The shiny metal rainscreen panels form a striking contrast with the rustic brick façade, while their color complements the vibrant golden tone found on the painted concrete surfaces and window frames. There’s also a touch of Kinna’s heritage in the design, as the wall pattern reflects the town’s textile tradition. Villa Niitty, built for the 2026 Lempäälä Housing Fair in Finland (Suomen Asuntomessut) by Kannustalo Oy, is a compact and carefully considered home designed by Studio Rosberg Oy. The main house and separate outbuilding form a sheltered, geometrical courtyard inspired by traditional barns, while warm timber tones help the architecture settle naturally into its surroundings.🏡 The dark Ruukki Classic® roof adds a strong, clean contrast to the vertical wooden façade and supports the home’s simple, timeless expression. The same attention to detail continues in the Ruukki roof safety products. Roof ladders and walkways are essential for safe access and maintenance, but they are also visible elements of the architecture. When the roofing and roof safety products are designed as one complete system, functionality, quality and appearance work together – without unnecessary visual distractions.

What brings a home with many angles together as one architectural whole? Sometimes, it’s the roof. 🏠 Villa Trekooli, a newly built home at the Lempäälä Housing Fair in Finland, plays with straight and angled lines, sheltered outdoor spaces and a U-shaped floor plan. Above it all, a continuous pitched roof brings the different parts of the home together. The home features a Ruukki Classic® steel roof in classic black, complemented by Ruukki roof safety products – including snow guards, ladders and walkways – as well as a Ruukki rainwater system. All designed to work together and become a natural part of the finished home. Designed by arkTimlin and delivered by Jetta-Talo, Villa Trekooli was also selected as the 2026 Model House of the Year by the Finnish Association of Construction Managers and Engineers. Take a closer look at how the roof brings the architecture together in the video. Architecture: arkTimlin Oy / Eevamaria Timlin House supplier: Jetta-Talo Oy

The award-winning Chaletkru project by ArchPOLAK, recognised as Building of the Year 2025, demonstrates how a single material can seamlessly connect the roof and façade into a clean, cohesive and highly functional architectural design. Using the same profile on both the roof and parts of the façade not only creates a unified visual expression, but also enhances the building's long-term durability in demanding mountain conditions. Ruukki® Classic Design is available as a complete system for both roofs and façades, including compatible detailing that supports precise installation, long-term performance and a consistent architectural appearance. We are proud to have been part of a project that shows how thoughtful material choices can support an architectural vision from the very first detail through to the finished building. 📷 Photo: MgA.
