Coherent optics is no longer confined to the network core. It's moving out to the edge. The IP-over-DWDM market is on track to pass $7 billion by 2030 (Dell'Oro Group), and 400G ZR/ZR+ pluggables are pulling high-capacity transport out of dedicated transponders. RAD takes it further: Tunable coherent optics built straight into Carrier Ethernet access and aggregation devices. The ETX-2i-100G and ETX-2i-400G turn the edge from a demarcation point into part of the optical layer, running 100G and 400G over DWDM or dark fiber with MACsec-secured DCI. Convergence doesn't start in the core. It starts at the edge. For most of the internet era, connectivity was a commodity. Get the packet from A to B, fast and cheap — the route in between was a traffic-engineering problem, not something the business thought about. That assumption is breaking down. As data becomes the most regulated asset a business owns, the question is no longer just how fast it moves. It's where it goes, who can see it, and under whose laws it travels. Welcome to sovereign connectivity: The principle that the network itself, not just the data centers at either end, must respect jurisdiction. The problem? The public internet was built for reach, not control. Best-effort routing can't tell you which countries a flow crosses. That's why the carrier edge is becoming strategic. It's the natural point to enforce policy, encrypt sensitive flows, and produce the audit trail regulators expect. And for service providers, there's a commercial angle: Sovereignty is a premium managed service waiting to be productized. The conversation shifts from price to trust. Our new piece unpacks why the network is becoming a matter of jurisdiction, and where RAD's carrier edge fits. The harvest is happening now! CSPs who act first hold a compliance and commercial advantage. Check out this new video about the HNDL exposure, and the opportunity to CSPs. For more info, see here: https://lnkd.in/ev_dZFVi

Is the industry facing another component shortage? The indications keep piling up. AI demand is shifting chip production toward AI-focused silicon, and lead times for components for networking devices such as switches, routers and encryptors are stretching across the industry. Service providers are once again being asked to change their rollout plans around shifting chip allocation. It’s a discussion worth having now, as it has become urgent. For our part, here is how RAD has set up to mitigate it: Our Smart Pluggables, CPEs, and Aggregation devices run on RAD’s own chips, designed and manufactured in-house. This vertical integration means that we have greater control over lead times and availability. It also means flexible control-plane and data-plane design, so we can adapt quickly to your requirements. It helps that Carrier Ethernet and edge networking are the core of RAD’s business, so they always come first when we plan production. And that commitment extends to operators of every size, not only tier-1 telcos. Are you also encountering lead time delays? Let us know in the comments section. RAD experts will be happy to talk to you about your rollout plans →https://lnkd.in/epsvAxJu #Telecom #ServiceProviders #SupplyChain #ASIC #Networking #CarrierEthe
