Olen kirjoittanut täällä paljon siitä, että pistemäisistä projekteista pitää päästä eteenpäin. Rajattu kokeilu ei ole sen kanssa ristiriidassa, päinvastoin. Ero syntyy siitä, miten kokeilu tehdään: kun liiketoiminnan tarve on selvillä, mutta ongelma on rajattu, tavoite määritelty ja tulokset mitattavia, kokeilu ei jää saarekkeeksi vaan siitä tulee ensimmäinen palanen kokonaisuutta. "Tulemme laittamaan koko talonne kuntoon" on aika vaikea myyntikeissi. Eikä kukaan sitä oikeasti kaipaakaan. Se mihin törmäämme jatkuvasti, on tämä: yritys haluaa tehdä rajatulla alueella tekoälykokeilun, josta nähdään mitattavia tuloksia ja jota pystytään sitten skaalaamaan. Usein lähtötilanne on rehellisesti sanottuna se, että halutaan jotain, mutta ei vielä tiedetä tarkalleen mitä. Se ei ole ongelma. Juuri siihen kohtaan me astumme mukaan: autetaan löytämään fokus, rajaamaan ongelma ja tekemään ratkaisusta mitattava, toistettava, skaalautuva ja osa kokonaisuutta. The already legendary Qalmari SAP Dinner cooking school has finally taken place. For the first time ever. 😉 Last week we invited customers from our SAP network to the Helsinki Culinary Institute to answer one of the great unanswered questions of our time: What happens when you take SAP people out of a meeting room, remove the PowerPoints and give them knives, frying pans, wine glasses and Italian recipes instead...and some actual master chefs to help them? Turns out… they still talk about SAP. A lot. 😄 But something else happened too. People cooked. People laughed. People shared experiences. And somehow five hours disappeared faster than an SAP project budget after a scope change. Between chopping onions, preparing Italian dishes and conducting some extremely serious quality assurance on the food, our customers openly shared stories about what we’ve been doing together during the past year. Our AI superstar Pekka also managed something we previously thought was technically impossible: He got a room full of SAP people to talk about something other than SAP. At least temporarily. Pekka shared experiences and insights from our AI projects outside the SAP bubble — which naturally generated even more discussion. Eventually the cooking stopped. The eating stopped. The discussions didn't. And the customer feedback was refreshingly easy to analyze. No SAP Analytics Cloud dashboard or AI required: DO THIS AGAIN! So we will. The first-ever Qalmari SAP Dinner is officially history. The next one will already be a tradition and currently in Design-phase. And by the third one, we'll probably start calling it the leading SAP culinary event in the Nordics. Berlin, day 2 of 3 at the SAP Transformation Excellence Summit. This city has so many fine breweries that my personal event agenda could use some prioritization workshops. The event demo stations are all about EA, toolchains, end-to-end process visibility, bottleneck analysis and AI-supported decisions. Just what I was looking for. My favorite nerd-moment so far: AI transformation is turning into the golden era of Enterprise Architecture. For years EA was the monolithic tool and used only by these mythic creatures called enterprise architects. Well, in a certain way it still is, but now agents are arriving, and suddenly everyone needs to know what exists, what connects to what, who owns it and why we are building the same agent over and over again for each team to have their own agent doing the same thing as the ones in other teams 🥳 We need to see and understand what to tolerate, where to invest, what to migrate and what to eliminate. This is one of the things where SAP LeanIX is working on how to discover AI agents the way we've always inventoried applications, because agent sprawl is coming for us all. As an ALM person I also smiled proudly at the main stage keynote: SAP Cloud ALM as the central element in the agentic toolchain and the transformation, on a very big screen (see photo). But AI won't fix a messy landscape on its own. Get the foundations in shape and make it transparent, then bring in the Automation and AI. Otherwise you just get a very confident EA agent guessing your next big moves and the failure is imminent. I'm here until tomorrow. Berlin airport. Going through my Summit notes, backpack and brain fully packed, ready to board the future... I mean the plane. Three things I'm taking home from Berlin this time: 1. The hands-on LeanIX sessions: the EA Assistant, how it runs its current AI agents, APIs and functionalities today, and what is still to come in its agentic architecture on the LeanIX roadmap. Architect nerd heaven for me. 🤓 2. The agentic AI customer stories: we have moved from pilots and proofs of concept to actual enterprise-scale transformation projects. Pilot season seems to be over for many. 3. A personal to-do list that already starts next Monday. BONUS: new connections, great food experiences and excellent beer. And to our dear Qalmari customers: you'll be hearing from me soon, or just ping me directly. 😉 Next summit: ALM Summit EMEA in Darmstadt at the beginning of November. Näin tekoälykulut karkasivat käsistä. Tunnistatko tutun tarinan? Ensin asiantuntija kysyi johdolta, saako käyttää tekoälyä. Johto kysyi, että mitä se maksaa. Parikymppiä kuussa. No käytä vaan. Sitten kysyttiin, saisiko tehdä pienen tekoälyprojektin. Kymppitonnin kokeilu. No kokeile vaan. Ja hyötyjähän alkoi syntyä. Samalla työkalut ja kielimallit kehittyivät, ja muutkin ympärillä innostuivat. Hankkeiden määrät ja koot kasvoivat. Yhtäkkiä puhuttiin sadoista tuhansista euroista, ja rinnakkaisia hankkeita oli käynnissä useita samanaikaisesti. Ja kas näin, johdon pöydälle ilmestyi mittavan kokoluokan hankkeita, joiden arvioimiseen ei ole riittävää tietoa eikä osaamista. Kehitys on ollut teknologian johtamaa, vaikka kaikkien mielestä tekoäly on hyvä renki mutta huono isäntä. Tämä polku on kuljettu viime vuosina lukemattomissa yrityksissä, joiden kanssa olen jutellut. Nyt on korkea aika kääntää asetelma: liiketoiminta johtaa, tekoäly seuraa. 🦑

Haemme AI Delivery Leadiä viemään tekoälyhankkeet ideasta pysyväksi osaksi asiakkaidemme liiketoimintaa. AI-hankkeet harvoin kaatuvat teknologiaan. Useammin tilanne on se, että data on hujan hajan, hankkeelle on keksitty nimi mutta ei tavoitetta, ja kolme yksikköä ratkoo samaa ongelmaa toisistaan tietämättä. Etsimämme qalmari: 🔹 Johtaa asiakkaidemme AI-hankkeita määrittelystä käyttöönottoon. Kuilu demon ja tuotannon välillä voi olla syvä, mutta tiedät että sen yli pääsee. 🔹 Aloittaa liiketoimintaongelmasta, et teknologiasta, ja tunnistaa missä tekoälystä on liiketoiminnalle oikeasti hyötyä. 🔹 Sovittaa yhteen tekniset ja liiketoiminnalliset sidosryhmät ja johtaa muutosta myös johtoryhmätasolla. Työtäsi helpottaa, jos C-tason pöydät ovat tuttuja jo ennestään. 🔹 Vie hankkeita läpi silloinkin kun esteitä kasautuu nopeammin kuin niitä ehtii raivata. Emme hae taruolentoja, vaan tärkeintä on näytöt AI-hankkeiden ja -tiimien johtamisesta, sekä aito halu olla asiakkaan kanssa tekemisissä ja jalostaa ratkaisuja yhdessä.
