Natalia Ekisheva weighed us against 10 other agencies. Then she wrote in public about why we won. What she said we delivered: Pipeline coverage goals beaten 6 to 8 quarters in a row. Acquisition costs down about 20% while conversion rates improved. Content shifted from volume to impact, with more sales-ready leads. What impressed her most: "Meet the A-team during sales. Get handed to the B-team after. Powered by Search was different."

Here's a question many B2B CMOs can't answer: What percentage of your marketing budget is going to buyers who will never buy? I've been in enough pipeline reviews to know this number is often uncomfortable. And I get it. This matrix gives you the answer: 1. Top right: The 5%. These are your best buyers right now. Strong ICP fit, actively researching a solution. The problem is that everyone is chasing them, which is why CAC is climbing. You need to be visible here, but you can't afford to spend all the budget here. 2. Top left: The 45%. Same ICP fit, but they are not aware of the problem YET. This is where the real leverage is. Most teams ignore them because they don't raise their hand this quarter, but they will. When they do, whoever educated them wins the deal. 3. Bottom right: The MQL trap. This is where budgets go down the toilet. High problem awareness, but wrong company. They convert on forms, look great in dashboards, but they never close. If your MQL to SQL rate is under 10%, this quadrant is probably why. 4. Bottom left: The 50%. Out of market, wrong fit. Just move on. The uncomfortable truth is that most B2B marketing budgets are concentrated in the bottom half of this matrix. So they are chasing lead volume, but most of those leads will never convert. P.S. The 45% you're ignoring this quarter is the deal a competitor closes next quarter, because they educated first. Talk to a Powered by Search strategist here: https://lnkd.in/g_iv-KkQ

B2B marketing problems often stem from 3 actions: 1. Wrong starting point. 2. Wrong priorities. 3. Wrong content for the stage the buyer is in. Here's the system to fix all 3: Framework 1: Start from the bottom, not the top. Most B2B teams build awareness first and conversion last. It's backwards. The BOFU-up approach starts where revenue is and works upward. You can't convert traffic you haven't built the engine to capture. Framework 2: Know what to prioritize. In 2026, one new layer sits atop that order: AI search visibility. If your brand doesn't appear when a buyer asks ChatGPT or Perplexity about your category, you don't exist in their research process. Framework 3: Match content to the buyer's stages. Combine awareness snacks for reach, education hubs for authority, but don't forget on decision and sales enablement content. This is what closes deals. Each framework fixes a different layer of the same pipeline problem. Save this for the next time someone asks why marketing isn't moving the pipeline. P.S. If you're looking for a partner to put these 3 frameworks to work on your pipeline, talk to a Powered by Search strategist here: https://lnkd.in/g_iv-KkQ

Every time I see a B2B company with a CAC problem, I think of this one question: What percentage of your budget goes to buyers ready to buy this month? The split is usually the same: The majority goes to awareness. Campaigns, webinars, blog content for buyers who are 9 to 12 months away from a decision. A fraction goes to the 5% actively researching right now. CAC climbs because you're paying to reach a lot of people and converting very few of them. That's why we do what I call bottom-up. Start with buyers who are ready now, build the conversion engine first, then layer awareness on top. What does your current budget split look like? P.S. If you're looking for a partner to move budget toward the buyers who are ready now, talk to a Powered by Search strategist here: https://lnkd.in/g_iv-KkQ

Quick test: who sent the last message in your agency Slack channel? If it was you, the relationship runs backwards. Asking for updates. Chasing reports. Following up on last week's ideas. Your agency should bring insights to you. Not wait to be asked.

Flat B2B pipeline is rarely a channel problem. It usually comes from three places. Lead volume is easy to grow. Buy cheap clicks, gate everything, count every download. Sales opportunities are harder. They need the right accounts, the right offer and a handoff your sales team trusts. Daniil Kleyman's PropTech software company had the same problem. We cut the pages that brought the wrong traffic and built pages for high-intent searches. Organic conversions rose 148% year over year. His verdict: "They didn't just get us traffic. They made us money."
