Sorry Smartlead. Sorry Instantly. These two tools send cold emails in bulk, to people you want as clients. I would not go back to either of them, because of what they now add on top. A sending tool has one job: getting your emails into the main inbox, not spam. In practice, that takes five things: 1. A new address starts with a few emails a day, so email providers learn to trust it. 2. It warns you when emails start going to spam. 3. It spreads sending over several addresses, so none sends too much. 4. It varies the wait between emails, so it looks less automatic. 5. It sends plain text, with no hidden code tracking opens and clicks. Spam filters spot it. Smartlead and Instantly were the first to do this well. But now they build extras to sell you more, like out-of-date contact databases and a CRM. Some of these extras break features that used to work. That is why my agency, which books sales meetings for B2B companies, left Smartlead. A sending tool should only send. Writing messages and finding contacts are other jobs, for other tools. On Monday, send this list to whoever runs your cold emails. Ask if your tool does all five. If one is missing, your emails may be going to spam. The YouTube video in the first comment covers these extras and shows the tool we use now.

These cold email tactics felt clever in 2022... but in 2025, they’ll get you blacklisted. If you’re still using these, it’s time to stop. Immediately. Here are 5 tricks that ruin trust before your email even gets read: 1. “FW: [subject line]” Pretending it’s a forward to fake familiarity? No one’s buying it anymore - and it screams sketchy. 2. “RE: [subject line]” Trying to fake a reply thread to look like this is part of an ongoing convo? Congrats - you’ve just lost all credibility. 3. “My boss asked me to reach out to you…” Yes, this hack was clever in 2022. Now? It’s been copied to death. It’s tired, and prospects can see right through it. 4. “We got a form submission from your team…” Bold move - especially when the company name is copied/pasted wrong. It’s not just misleading, it’s straight-up embarrassing. 5. “Just confirming our call tomorrow…” Unless a call is actually booked, don’t pretend one is. There’s no world where this builds trust. None. Cold email still works - but fake familiarity doesn’t. Write a clear message. To the right person. With a reason that actually makes sense. That’s it. That’s the play. What’s the worst cold email trick you’ve seen lately? Drop it below👇 Let’s make this a blacklist.

7 cold email lessons I learned the hard way (so you don’t have to) Cold email works. But only if you stop treating it like a numbers game and start treating it like communication. After millions of sends, here’s what I build into every campaign now: 1. A fuzzy ICP = fuzzy results If you don’t know exactly who you’re writing to, the message will fall flat. “Mid-market SaaS” isn’t an ICP. Get specific. 2. Subject lines aren’t ads Keep it 3-5 words. lowercase. no fluff. It should feel like something a human would actually say in a Slack message. 3. Preview text = your actual subject line This is what gets the open. Make it specific, relevant, and not the same pitch they’ve already seen 15 times. 4. Don’t pitch in the first paragraph You’re a stranger in their inbox. Lead with a trigger, insight, or shared context - not your product. 5. Personalization isn’t just “saw you went to UCLA” Cool. But… why should they care? Always tie it back to their role, their challenge, or their goal. 6. Make your CTA easy to say yes to Nobody’s jumping on a “30min exploratory call.” Try: “Want the quick version?” “Can I send over a teardown?” “Should I show how we did this for [competitor]?” 7. Give before you ask If the first line is a calendar link, you’ve already lost. Start by helping. Share something useful. Be human. Curious what’s working for others: What’s one cold email tip you swear by? 👇

I used to spend hours stitching together cold outreach. LinkedIn scraping tools. Email finders. Warm-up tools. Sending tools. Tracking tools. …Tabs on tabs on tabs. It worked - sort of. But it was a mess. And totally unscalable. That’s when we built PlusVibe. One platform that handles the whole workflow: - Scrapes leads from LinkedIn. - Verifies emails. - Warms up inboxes. - Personalizes every message. - Sends on autopilot No duct-taping tools. No tab hell. No “just one more extension.” And yeah - it’s priced for startups, not suits. Since switching: → Reply rates up → Meetings up → Stress way down It’s not magic. It’s just finally… manageable. If you're still stuck in tab chaos - happy to show you how we’re doing it. DMs are open.

When we started PlusVibe, I thought we just needed “a good email template.” I was wrong. The breakthrough came when I stopped writing for everyone… and started writing like I was talking to one busy founder. Cold email tip: => Pretend you’re DMing a friend on WhatsApp. Keep it short. Keep it relevant. Make the reply easy. Every time I’ve done this, reply rates went up.
