In the final phase of this remediation project, our team conducted a thorough inspection of the excavation and backfill. With over 5,700 metric tonnes of impacted soil removed and + 270 metric tonnes of GAC and ZVI mixed into the subsurface, ongoing performance monitoring of the post-remedial groundwater quality is underway. The site will soon be ready for its next chapter—redevelopment into a mixed-use multi-storey residential and commercial space. This project exemplifies our commitment to sustainable remediation, regulatory excellence, and technical innovation. Continuing our deep dive into this remediation project, Part 2 focuses on the upper portion of the excavation (0.5–4.0 mbgs). Here, we blended GAC and ZVI into segregated native soil and imported crushed rock to remediate residual groundwater impacts. This phase was critical in preparing the site for future redevelopment while maintaining the environmental quality of post-remedial groundwater in compliance with the applicable regulatory standards. Our approach minimized off-site soil transport, reduced greenhouse gas emissions, and promoted sustainable remediation practices. Every lift of material used to backfill the excavation was carefully mixed with the two remedial amendments to ensure long-term effectiveness. #SoilMixing #RemediationStrategy #EnvironmentalSustainability #SiteCleanup #ExcavationWork #GreenInfrastructure #OntarioRemediation #RemediationSeries #PinchinInAction #CleanSoilSolutions #Pinchin #WorkingTogetherMakingThingsBetter Paresh Patel Samuel Lingwood Frank Schlaefli Steve Della Rossa, PMP Erik Enders
