PETCORE EUROPE

In Europe, we waste an average of 132kg of food per person per year. PET trays keep out oxygen, one of the main drivers of spoilage. They extend shelf life and give food a chance to be consumed, not composted. As the EU sets binding food waste reduction targets, packaging performance deserves to be assessed alongside packaging waste. This is no ordinary plastic. It's PET.

Approved by regulators. Trusted by clinicians. Relied on by food producers. PET is approved for food contact use by food safety authorities around the world, and it meets rigorous medical device and recyclability standards. This is no ordinary plastic. It's PET.

Europe's circular economy targets depend on materials that can be recycled and managed in a closed-loop system. PET packaging ticks those boxes. It is collected, sorted and recycled back into bottles and trays across Europe. In 2022, 11 EU countries recovered over 80% of PET bottles. Closing that gap is what gets Europe to 90% by 2029. This is no ordinary plastic. It's PET.

In Germany and Austria, refillable PET bottles are an everyday part of the beverage system — collected, sterilised and refilled up to 25 times before being recycled. PET's weight, strength and durability are what make those systems commercially viable at scale. This is no ordinary plastic. It's PET.
