Tomorrow, Canada’s new counter-tariffs on U.S. goods officially take effect. Effective September 8, 2026, Canada will impose new tariffs of 15%, 25% and 50% on approximately $27.6 billion worth of U.S.-origin goods, matching U.S. tariff measures on a dollar-for-dollar basis. The measures impact a broad range of products across sectors including steel and aluminum, dairy, appliances, agricultural equipment, pulp and paper, plastics and electronics. For Canadian importers, the important question now is simple: Do you know which of your products are affected and what the additional cost will be? This is not a blanket 50% tariff on everything coming from the United States. The applicable rate depends on the specific tariff classification of the product, making accurate HS classification and SKU-level review critical. Businesses importing from the U.S. should be reviewing: • Which tariff items in their product portfolio are captured • Whether the applicable rate is 15%, 25% or 50% • The expected duty impact on upcoming shipments • Whether existing remission relief may apply • Whether sourcing, classification or other mitigation opportunities are available With the measures taking effect tomorrow, understanding your exposure before goods cross the border can make a significant difference. Peacock Tariff Consulting can assist businesses with product-level tariff impact reviews and mitigation strategies. #Tariffs #CanadaUStrade #TradeCompliance #Customs #Importers #Section338 #Manufacturing #SupplyChain #PeacockTariffConsulting #CounterTariffs

CSMS on CAPE Phase 2 has been released. CBP has announced that CAPE Phase 2 will open on June 29, 2026 for entry types 01, 02, and 06 that were flagged for reconciliation but do not yet have a corresponding Type 09 reconciliation entry on file. Eligibility extends to unliquidated entries and those within 80 days of liquidation. Once an entry is accepted into a CAPE declaration, the reconciliation entry may then be filed. However, if a reconciliation entry is filed before the underlying entry is accepted into CAPE, that entry becomes ineligible for Phase 2. The CSMS notes that additional CAPE phases are anticipated, though no further details were provided. https://lnkd.in/gwcRQfzR #IEEPA #CAPE #IEEPArefunds #tariffs #duties #refunds #tradewar #CBP #HTSUS #reconciliation #tradepolicy #manufacturing #SMEs #PeacockTariffConsulting
