Australia has a growing soft plastics challenge. Currently only 6% of the 500,000 tonnes of soft plastics that enter the market annually are recycled. Solutions must be found to reduce their environmental impact and meet the expectations of households after the collapse of the REDcycle scheme. At a recent seminar held at Parliament House, an expert panel outlined the Soft Plastic Stewardship Australia initiative and Victoria’s progress in establishing Australia’s first advanced recycling plant for converting hard-to-recycle plastics into oil for making new plastics. Watch a replay at https://lnkd.in/gQs9CuGr. The presenters were Brooke Donnelly, Group General Manager, Sustainability, Coles Group and Darren Thorpe, Managing Director, APR Group. Presented by the Victorian Parliamentary Library and the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences & Engineering (ATSE) Victorian Division.
