What does it really take to launch a rare disease therapy successfully? It starts long before FDA approval. In our latest blog, Brittany Effross, PharmD, Director, Implementation at PANTHERx® Rare, reflects on a panel she moderated at the Launch Excellence Summit in Boston and the critical role of early planning, stakeholder collaboration, operational flexibility, and patient access. One message stood out: 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆. For rare disease therapies, engaging specialty pharmacy early can provide valuable insight into access barriers, operational readiness, and the support patients need to start therapy. Some of the most important drivers of patient outcomes can also be the most difficult to see. In today’s Drug Channels Institute guest post, “Invisible Work of Rare Pharmacy Delivers Highly Visible Patient Outcomes,” our VP of Payer Solutions, Jay Weaver, PharmD, MPH, explores why the true value of Rare Pharmacy can be difficult to see through a traditional payer lens. Jay examines the often-unseen clinical and operational work that helps patients access, stay on, and benefit from treatment, and why that work also matters to payers, PBMs, and employer groups. At PANTHERx® Rare, we know from experience that some of the most important contributions a pharmacy makes to patient success happen behind the scenes, long before and long after a prescription is dispensed.
