So there's an outbound delivery from a central distribution center to a network of regional stores... like your favorite coffee shops or grocery stores. Each 2-zone truck carries refrigerated and frozen goods, all monitored in real-time by telematics and zone-specific devices. But managing mixed-temperature cargo isn’t easy. Uneven temperatures during delivery can lead to early spoilage, and every time the rear door opens, warm air circulates, threatening sensitive products. Delays from weather or traffic can add more complexity, impacting inventory and temperature control. With our platform at Overhaul, operational teams gain real-time visibility and traceability -- pinpointing exactly where and why a temperature deviation occurred. All data is stored in a system of record, supporting cost-efficient shipments and defending against spoilage and theft. This is the future of cold chain logistics: smarter, safer, and more efficient deliveries.

Real-time Intervention and Reduction in Spoilage/Shrinkage Imagine this: A shipment of ice cream is crossing Texas during a relentless heat wave. Suddenly, the distributor receives a real-time alert—before the cargo is compromised. To save fuel, the reefer temperature was turned up, putting the ice cream at risk. With Overhaul’s Active Protection, cold chain shipments are monitored in real time by people ready to intervene—ensuring issues are caught and addressed before they escalate. In this case, dispatch escalates an alert to the driver, who fixes the temperature issue just in time, saving the cargo and preventing massive losses. This is how proactive supply chain risk management could transform outcomes. It’s not just tracking—it’s action. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/e2yZ3NGt

After 14 years across quality, logistics, and operations, my take is simple: quality and security are no longer two problems. They're one. Every refrigerated shipment leaves the dock carrying two risks. It can get rejected. It can get stolen. Either way it ends the same: product you paid for that never becomes product you sell. Historically, these have been handled separately within the industry. Temperature monitoring watches for the load going out of spec. Cargo security, when it's present, watches for theft. Different vendors, different teams, different dashboards. The ones that address both usually run them as two separate programs. But those two failures have everything in common. Both are shrink. Both happen while your shipment is in someone else's hands. And when one happens, everyone is asking the same four questions: what happened, where, who was involved, and who's accountable for the recovery and the replacement. That last question is the whole game, and even with good partners, the information is spread across everyone who touched the shipment, and no one holds the complete picture. It got harder this year. Cargo theft has moved from breaking locks to faking identities, and food and beverage is now the most-targeted freight category on the road. A temperature monitor can't see a cloned carrier at pickup. A carrier-vetting tool can't catch a temperature drift in hour six. That gap between the two is exactly where a shipment goes bad or goes missing. So here's where I've landed. Stop treating quality and security as separate buys. Capture all the critical quality and security terms in one record. Broker, carrier, driver, BOL, PO, and quality information riding together, so what was true at pickup can be verified and acted on at every handoff. The same principles and discipline that drive risk out of cargo security drive it out of quality. Overhaul built that ecosystem to protect freight, and we're now applying it to food. Two concerns being addressed as one, by one platform. LEARN MORE: https://lnkd.in/gpNQ6udJ
