I’ve been back from Omnissa One Orlando for over a week, and I’m only now catching up to write this. It was a whirlwind three days, starting with our Partner & Customer Executive Forum on Day 1. We usually open these forums by asking customers about their biggest pain points. Normally we hear a mix of endpoint management, virtualization and employee experience challenges. This time was different. Almost everyone named the same challenge: how to govern AI (or super intelligence), at machine speed. We didn’t plan it, but that session foreshadowed the next two days! As Amit’s blog notes, they’ll show up in many different guises. 2️⃣ Agents will be shape-shifters. Sometimes they’ll act like users, sometimes like devices, and in some forms they’ll be indistinguishable from apps. 3️⃣ Agents pose new forms of threats. Several recent essays, including one from Satya Nadella, argue that LLMs and agents should be treated as insider risks. We agree, and we think it applies even more to agents. They amplify an LLM’s risks, and their privileges (inherited identities) and MCP connections mean they can do far more damage. 4️⃣ Agents need a Zero Trust model. That model should: enforce strict runtime controls with ephemeral execution surfaces, enable deep discovery and behavioral analysis and embody remediation at machine speed More to come at Omnissa One Amsterdam, November 3–4.
