The silly season can send anyone into a spin, but it puts real strain on repair networks trying to keep vehicles moving. Many workshops shorten hours or close across Christmas, and specialised parts can take longer to source. That’s why we stay ahead of the curve. In our latest webinar, our National Motor Claims Manager, Monica Torcasio, shared how we work closely with our repair partners before the holidays begin, so assessments can be finalised, approvals pushed through and urgent work fast-tracked before shutdown. It’s not a Christmas miracle. It’s just business as usual at NTI! 📺 Watch the full webinar on-demand: https://bit.ly/48oCdSH ✔️ For our insurance broker partners, this webinar is eligible for 1 NIBA CPD point. #NTIWebinars #InsuranceWebinar #InsuranceBrokers #ClaimsManagement #MotorInsurance #PeakSeasonSupport

💡 Expert insight from Antony Wong, Marine Claims Manager at NTI When a ship encounters trouble during a voyage that requires costs to be incurred to save the vessel and cargo, those costs are shared between the ship owner and all cargo owners whose goods were not damaged. This principle is called General Average. For retailers and importers, this can lead to large, unexpected costs. The more containers on board, the larger your share of these costs could be. Without the right cargo insurance, a cargo owner might need to provide a cash deposit to release goods, and shipments could be held until payment is made. Vessel incidents can occur at any time, and the potential costs associated with General Average become especially relevant during busy trading periods like Black Friday and Cyber Monday, when businesses often ship more containers than usual. In the lead-up to these periods, it’s worth considering: ✔️ Do you have the right cargo insurance in place? ✔️ Are your limits sufficient to cover potential General Average costs? ✔️ Do you understand how these costs could affect your business? Checking policies now can prevent surprises later. Our expert marine team can provide guidance on the specifics of General Average coverage and help ensure your coverage is fit for purpose. “Resolving a General Average can be time-consuming, requiring interaction with multiple parties, often overseas. We have experience handling these challenges and can take the burden from our customers, leaving them free to focus on their business,” says Antony. #GeneralAverage #CargoInsurance #ShippingIssues

💡 Expert insight from Norman Hawken, Regional Strategic Underwriter at NTI Understanding how goods are valued and ensuring your cargo insurance aligns with your trade terms is critical in marine insurance. The value of goods can be calculated in different ways, and these methods are linked to the agreements you have with buyers or sellers, as set out by Incoterms. For example, under CIF terms, the seller is responsible for arranging insurance to cover the goods up to the destination port. If your insurance doesn’t match the terms of your agreement, shipments could be underinsured or overinsured, which may create unnecessary risks or additional costs. Some key things to consider: 📄 How are your goods valued according to your agreement? 📄 Does your insurance reflect your responsibilities as a buyer or seller? 📄 Could further guidance help ensure your policy aligns with your trade terms? Being aware of valuation methods and Incoterms helps you manage risk effectively. Our expert marine team can provide assistance where needed! *This information is general only and does not consider your personal circumstances. Black Friday and Cyber Monday have reshaped Australia’s retail calendar. Peak season now starts earlier and runs longer, pushing record volumes through supply chains well before Christmas. For retailers, that extended window raises the stakes. Success depends on planning further ahead, executing with precision, and keeping goods moving despite global disruption, domestic bottlenecks and last-mile risks. With the right preparation and risk management, peak season is about more than delivering products. It’s about delivering on promises, and building lasting trust with customers. Our latest article shares insights from NTI's Nick Aiello, Chelsea Neely and Bert Webster on how to get it right. Read it here: https://lnkd.in/ghQW-t7A. *Limits and exclusions apply.
