Heading to TCF in Manchester on September 22–23? Warren Birchley and Laura Durston will be there talking unattended payments. We're showing transport operators how to build their payment setup exactly how they need it: devices, operating systems, acquirers, all their choice. One integration. Full control. That's how we deliver seamless, secure payment experiences. TCF brings together senior leaders from across UK transport ticketing (bus, rail, tram) with the technology providers shaping the future of fare collection. If you're attending, come find us. We'd love to talk about how we can support your ticketing strategy. #transport #ticketing #unattended #payments

We recently caught up with NMI's Peter Alcock on a subject matter that crosses all borders and goes well beyond one market. When a payment fails in an unattended environment, the consequences hit fast. For example, a driver leaves a parking facility unsure whether their transaction went through, waiting to find out if a penalty notice is headed their way. For operators running barrier-controlled lots at airports and large venues, it is even more stark. When the system goes down, the gates go up, cars leave. That revenue does not come back. The specific rules and fees differ market to market. The underlying problem, however, is the same everywhere: unattended payments have zero margin for failure. Solid infrastructure is not a nice-to-have in this space - it's literally the whole product. We are heading to International Parking & Mobility Institute (IPMI) in Milwaukee to talk through what that looks like with parking operators across the U.S. If you are going to be there, come find us at booth #1010.

The holiday shopping season is officially in full swing and if the opening weekend is any indication, we’re in for a record-setting ride! More than 203 million US consumers kicked things off with a mix of in-store buzz and online browsing, giving us an early look at just how big and complex this year’s peak season will be. What stood out most? Shoppers are everywhere at once. Accessing goods across all channels. There was a surge in foot traffic, an even bigger jump in online purchases and a rising expectation that every checkout — no matter the channel — should be fast, intuitive and flexible. These behaviours line up with what we’re seeing in NMI’s latest holiday survey of U.S. Millennial parents, one of the most influential spending groups this season. Their message is loud and clear: when time is tight and the gift list is long, the retailers that win are the ones that remove friction. In this month’s newsletter, we break down the trends shaping a truly seamless 2025 holiday season, from cross-border buying behaviour to the tech powering modern checkout, to the three Millennial Parent personas dominating the festive shopping rush. If you’re curious about how shoppers are evolving and what merchants and payment providers can do to keep up, this edition is a must-read. And let us know in the comments what kind of shopper you are? An Efficiency Elf, Holiday Hustler or Tradition Treasurers.

AI has dominated industry headlines for over the last year, but according to our CTO, Phillip Goericke, 2026 will be a turning point. Not because AI is going away, but because the hype is giving way to reality. In his latest blog, Phillip outlines why the industry is likely to shift into a more balanced, practical view of AI’s capabilities. This is especially true as LLMs hit natural limits and costs continue to rise. Instead of chasing shortcuts or “any day now” breakthroughs, this reset will push companies toward more intentional, proven use cases. At the same time, another trend is accelerating fast: SaaS-led embedded payments are taking the lead. With the next generation of frictionless, turnkey SaaS payment products, merchants no longer need to start with the big-name platforms. Operational software is becoming the first stop and soon, more than 50% of SaaS merchants could onboard to payments with zero humans in the loop. 2026 is shaping up to be the year that expectations around AI cool down while SaaS payments truly heat up. And at NMI, we’re building the software-led, embedded payments infrastructure that makes this shift possible. 🔗 Read Phillip's full bloghere:https://bit.ly/3Y7F91b
