How does an outgrower model help small poultry businesses beat the odds in highly competitive markets? 🐔 An outgrower model is a systemic approach linking farmers to commercial supply chains, giving them access to quality outputs, reliable markets, and a surefire path to financial sustainability. This approach is at the core of the UK-funded CASA Programme, an initiative that supported smallholders across Africa and Asia. But what does applying the model look like in practice? Sometimes, the most effective solution arises from staying flexible and being able to adapt to real-world challenges. In this insight piece, former CASA Malawi Country Representative Innocent Thindwa draws from a first-hand account of how discreet grant financing enabled the success of a pilot model supporting a poultry business in Malawi. 👇🏽 Click the link below to read Innocent’s blog.

🚰 Have you ever heard of the term “inline chlorination”? Inline chlorination is a simple and scalable solution engineers use to ensure safe drinking water reaches households that would otherwise not have access. We are proud to say this is being used in one of the projects we are implementing: Sustainable WASH for All (SUSWA), a water, sanitation, and hygiene project targeting households across Karnali Province, Nepal. But how does this technology work? It’s a small change in the region's water schemes, but the impact is undeniably immense. In this insight-loaded blog piece, Narayan Singh Khawas, a Technical Specialist from the project SUSWA, explains how this approach to disinfecting water in rural, remote communities is protecting more than 80,000 individuals in Karnali from E. coli contamination, at a fraction of the usual cost. ➡️ Read Narayan’s article by clicking the link below.

Nearly as many women as men exist in the world. And yet, financial products are still often designed with men as the “default” customer. 📌 The third webinar by Global Gender-Smart Fund (GGSF) “Gender Responsive Products” tackles this unfounded bias through the lens of women-centred design (WCD), putting women’s needs alongside business goals in product development. Led by the Vice President of Women’s World Banking, Pallavi Tewari Madhok, this session will cover: ✓ Why traditional design fails women; ✓ The pillars of WCD; ✓ How WCD sparks innovation and drives results.
