⚡ Innovation is not always about reinventing. Sometimes, it is about improving what already works. In Portugal, our subsidiary Visabeira Infraestruturas collaborated with Isofibras - Plásticos Reforçados, Lda to develop an alternative to the traditional wooden poles / timber beams used in the establishment of temporary land crossing protections, a critical activity for the preparation of cable stringing in Overhead Transmission Lines. The solution replaces traditional wooden poles / timber beams with Glass Fibre Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) protection poles, maintaining the same operational purpose while improving handling, deployment, durability and consistency in field conditions. Recently validated in real operational conditions on the 400 kV Fundão – Vilarouco overhead transmission line, the solution demonstrated clear operational benefits through reduced weight, improved ergonomics and easier handling, supporting safer and more efficient field operations. This project reflects how practical engineering improvements can strengthen safety, execution efficiency, fast deployment and the overall performance of critical infrastructure activities. 🎥 Watch the project in action. ⚡ Reliable connectivity has no standard environment. Neither does the engineering behind it. Across Nearing Visabeira, we deliver telecommunications infrastructure in environments where geography and logistics can become part of the engineering challenge. In Germany, our subsidiary Constructel GmbH completed a mobile network expansion project at the summit of the Jennerbahn in the Bavarian Alps, around 1,800 metres above sea level. Delivered as part of our ongoing partnership with Ericsson for the Deutsche Telekom mobile network, the project eliminated a previous mobile coverage gap, enabling modern connectivity services in one of southern Germany’s most visited mountain regions. Our teams deployed the complete radio component of the project, implementing advanced technologies that enable high-quality, high-capacity 5G coverage. The location also presented unusual logistical challenges, with technicians, tools and materials transported to site by the Jennerbahn cable car, requiring meticulous planning and careful coordination throughout the works. From technical deployment to logistics at 1,800 metres above sea level, this project demonstrates the engineering expertise and operational capability required to extend reliable connectivity into challenging environments.
